  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Will return to lineup Saturday

Dominguez will be back in the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Dominguez is getting a day off Friday, and manager Aaron Boone says Giancarlo Stanton will be the odd man out Saturday. "That gives me two in a row with (Alex) Verdugo and yet it keeps me four or five with Dominguez," Boone said. "It's just wanting to keep guys active and playing and in rhythm." If Boone keeps this same logic, it sounds like Dominguez will play pretty regularly, but not every day, over the final weeks of the regular season.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Not in starting nine

Dominguez is not in Friday's lineup against the Red Sox.

This is the second time Dominguez will sit in five games since getting recalled from Triple-A. He did not appear off the bench in the the previous game he sat. Alex Verdugo will start in left field and bat ninth against righty Tanner Houck. Dominguez has four strikeouts and is hitting .200 in 10 at-bats since getting recalled.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Dominguez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Royals.

Wednesday's starter for the Royals, Cole Ragans, has been more effective against righties than lefties this season, and the switch-hitting Dominguez is better from the right side, so the youngster will begin the series finale on the bench. Alex Verdugo will replace Dominguez in the lineup as the Yankees' starting left fielder.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Returning to majors

The Yankees recalled Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Manager Aaron Boone said that Dominguez will start in center field and bat sixth in the Yankees' series opener versus the Royals, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com.

As Bryan Hoch of MLB.com notes, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman recently said that Dominguez wouldn't rejoin the big club if he wasn't going to play regularly, so expect the 21-year-old phenom to take on a near-everyday role in the outfield now that he's back in the majors. Dominguez impressed in a small sample of eight games with the Yankees in 2023 and has turned in a .309/.368/.480 slash line with seven home runs and 15 stolen bases in 193 plate appearances at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season after completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Behind Verdugo in GM's eyes

General manager Brian Cashman said Friday that "(Dominguez) is doing everything he needs to do right now, and (Alex) Verdugo is playing better baseball recently," per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Dominguez is slashing .378/.432/.595 with four home runs, 10 steals and a 14.8 percent strikeout rate in his last 74 at-bats for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Meanwhile, Verdugo is hitting .341 with one home run, six strikeouts and one walk in his last 11 games. Cashman reserved the right to change his mind about which outfielder gives the Yankees the best chance to win, but for now the starting job in left field belongs to Verdugo.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Denied Sept. 1 call-up

The Yankees did not recall Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, though he could still join the big club later this month, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Rather than Dominguez, the Yankees promoted another outfielder in Duke Ellis from Triple-A to fill one of the openings on the active roster, which expanded from 26 to 28 players Sunday. The decision not to promote Dominguez likely stems from the big club not having an everyday role available for the 21-year-old; Alex Verdugo, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto serve as the Yankees' regular starting outfield trio, while Giancarlo Stanton is a full-time designated hitter. Instead, the Yankees will turn to a non-prospect in Ellis to fill out a bench spot as a pinch-running specialist and late-inning defensive replacement, while Dominguez will likely stick around with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the time being to get regular at-bats. As Bryan Hoch of MLB.com notes, Dominguez will retain rookie status for 2025 if he does not exceed 130 at-bats -- he has 35 for now -- with the Yankees this season, which would allow the team to pick up a compensation pick in 2026 if he wins the 2025 American League Rookie of the Year Award. With that in mind, it wouldn't be overly surprising if Dominguez remained at Triple-A until Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's regular season ends Sept. 22.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Candidate for Sunday call-up

The Yankees could recall Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

It's not clear whom the Yankees will select for their two additional roster spots when the active roster expands from 26 to 28 men Sunday, though rehabbing veteran Anthony Rizzo (forearm) has a good chance of being activated from the 60-day injured list to take one of them. Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Dominguez is also "a name in consideration," noting that if he does get promoted, it will be so he can play regularly and not sit on the bench. Dominguez got to play in one game for the big club when he served as the 27th man for the Little League Classic versus Detroit on Aug. 18, and he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in that game. The 21-year-old has been excellent in the minors this season, slashing .309/.368/.485 with eight home runs, 27 RBI and 15 steals over 50 contests across three levels, with his most of his time spent with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Returned to minors

Dominguez was returned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Dominguez came up as the extra man for the Little League Classic and was in the starting lineup, batting fifth while playing left field. He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and will now head back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Yankees' Jasson Dominguez: Up as 27th man

The Yankees appointed Dominguez as the 27th man for Sunday's game against the Tigers in the Little League Classic at Williamsport, Penn.

Both teams get an extra player for Sunday's game at a neutral site, and New York will use that roster spot for its top prospect. Dominguez has struggled to a .612 OPS at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since returning from an oblique injury in late July, though he's hit better recently and has gone 7-for-17 in his past five games. The 21-year-old is in the starting lineup for Sunday's contest but will still return to the minors after the game, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, since there's no clear path to regular playing time with the big club.
