  • White Sox's Tyson Miller: Goes to White Sox as NRI

The White Sox signed Miller to a minor-league contract Jan. 15 that includes an invitation to spring training.

After posting a 2.32 ERA and 54:11 K:BB over 62 innings between the Mariners and Cubs in 2024, Miller took a major step back in 2025. He missed ample time with a hip injury and, when healthy, never escaped Triple-A Iowa, where he was torched for a 6.27 ERA and 36:34 K:BB in 37.1 frames. Miller could bounce back and win a spot in the White Sox' bullpen, though the chances are better he opens the 2026 season at Triple-A Charlotte.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Sent outright to Triple-A

The Cubs outrighted Miller to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday.

The fact that Miller cleared waivers after being removed from the Cubs' 40-man roster is somewhat surprising, given his impressive 2.32 ERA and 0.81 WHIP across 62 innings last season. Miller has the ability to elect free agency since he's been outrighted previously, but it's unclear what his plans are.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Reinstated, DFA'd by Cubs

The Cubs reinstated Miller (hip) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and designated him for assignment, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Miller has been on the injured list all season due to a left hip impingement. He began a rehab assignment in the minors April 15 and has since posted a 2.77 ERA and 1.69 WHIP across 13 innings at Triple-A Iowa. Despite his strong performance in the minors, the Cubs will push the 29-year-old off their 40-man roster and expose him to waivers. Miller finished last season with a dominant 2.32 ERA and 0.81 WHIP across 62 innings between Chicago and Seattle, so he'll likely attract interest on the waiver wire.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Cubs transferred Miller (hip) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Miller has been out all season with a left hip impingement. He's allowed five runs (four earned) over 8.2 innings on a rehab assignment and will be eligible for activation May 20.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Starts up rehab assignment

Miller (hip) struck out two over a scoreless inning during a rehab appearance with Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

The Cubs placed Miller on the 15-day injured list March 25 due to a left hip impingement, an injury that had been affecting his delivery while pitching. Now that he's resumed pitching at Triple-A, Miller has seemingly moved past the injury, though he'll still likely need to make another appearance or two in the minors before the Cubs activate him from the IL. Miller excelled while working as a setup man and in middle relief between stops with the Mariners and Cubs in 2024, registering a 2.32 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 54:11 K:BB to go with 13 holds, five wins and one save over 62 innings.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Goes on 15-day IL

The Cubs placed Miller on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left hip impingement.

Miller will be eligible for activation April 5, but it's not clear whether he might be ready by then. The right-handed reliever posted a 2.15 ERA and 42:10 K:BB over 50.1 innings for the Cubs last season and is pegged for middle relief once healthy.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Headed to injured list

Miller will begin the season on the injured list with a left hip impingement, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Miller had a tough time finding his footing on the mound this spring, finishing the Cactus League schedule with nine earned runs allowed over just 4.2 innings, though he managed to strike out seven batters in the process. He'll head to the IL to begin the 2025 campaign and may be relegated to a middle-relief role in the Cubs' bullpen once healthy.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: May see less high-leverage work

With the Cubs trading for Ryan Brasier on Wednesday, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com, and adding Caleb Thielbar, Eli Morgan and Ryan Pressly earlier in the offseason, Miller may see less high-leverage work in 2025.

Porter Hodge was closing games for the Cubs at the end of last season, but Miller was seeing important setup work ahead of him. The veteran Pressly now figures to get the first shot at the closer role, which would presumably push Hodge into eighth-inning work. Brasier, Morgan and Thielbar are also all experienced relievers with successful track records, giving manager Craig Counsell some options to choose from toward the end of games. Miller was effective for the Cubs in 2024, posting a 2.15 ERA across 50.1 innings of relief, so he figures to still have a key role even with the added competition, though he may get knocked down a few rungs in the bullpen.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Earns fifth win Saturday

Miller (5-1) worked around a hit in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Saturday against the Reds.

Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks was stellar through 7.1 innings as he kept Cincinnati off the board, but the Cubs turned to Miller to get through the top of the eighth. The righty delivered and then was set up for the win when the Cubs scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the eighth. Miller has been excellent for Chicago this season with a 2.32 ERA and 0.81 WHIP across 62 innings of relief, and his five wins are the most on the team among current members of the bullpen.

  • Cubs' Tyson Miller: Grabs save Sunday

Miller struck out two without allowing a baserunner over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Rockies.

Keegan Thompson pitched a perfect eighth inning but let three straight batters reach to begin the ninth. Miller then entered the game, allowing one inherited runner to score but successfully escaping the danger to earn his first career save. He likely got the save chance because Porter Hodge took a blown save in Saturday's contest. Miller has pitched to a 2.37 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 69:28 K:BB while adding 12 holds through through 57 innings this season between the Cubs and the Mariners.
