  • Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Back on bench Tuesday

Kreidler is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox. Kreidler will hit the bench following a stretch of five consecutive starts -- one in center field, four at shortstop -- during which he went 5-for-18 with a home run, a double and four RBI. Though the Twins plan to move Brooks Lee to third base on a full-time basis, Kreidler won't necessarily be in line for regular reps at shortstop. Tristan Gray was reinstated from the paternity list Monday and could end up filling the strong side of a platoon at shortstop with Kreidler. The Twins will go with Gray at shortstop Tuesday while right-hander Sean Burke toes the rubber for the White Sox.

  • Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Short-term bump in playing time

Kreidler will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Kreidler will draw a fourth straight start at shortstop after going 3-for-12 with a home run, a double, four RBI and an additional run scored over the previous four contests. His run as a lineup regular is likely to come to an end in short order, however, as Brooks Lee is expected to shift back from third base when Tristan Gray returns from the paternity list Monday.

  • Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Recalled from Triple-A

The Twins recalled Kreidler from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports. With Royce Lewis (knee) headed for the IL, Kreidler will come up from Triple-A to give Minnesota additional depth in both the infield and outfield. The 28-year-old has gone 6-for-28 (.214) in the minors to begin the year and figures to sit on the bench most days while Tristan Gray starts at third base until Lewis returns.

  • Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Optioned to Triple-A

The Twins optioned Kreidler to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Kreidler was in the running for one of the final reserve spots for the Twins but ultimately didn't make the cut. The utility player will report to St. Paul for now but should eventually get an opportunity with the big club.

  • Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Could win roster spot

Kreidler appears to be the leading candidate to win a utility infield role with the Twins, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports. He'd make the team based on his glove, as he's hit just .138/.208/.176 over parts of four major-league seasons and is only a career .236/.342/.401 hitter in the minors. The Twins don't have a clear backup shortstop on the roster, so Kreidler is battling Orlando Arcia for the backup shortstop role.

  • Pirates' Ryan Kreidler: Booted from 40-man roster

The Pirates designated Kreidler for assignment Monday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of waiver claim Will Robertson. Kreidler was a waiver claim of the Pirates himself in August but never saw any action with Pittsburgh.

  • Pirates' Ryan Kreidler: Sent back to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Kreidler to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. After being called up from Triple-A a week ago, Kreidler didn't appear in any games during his brief stay in the majors. The Pirates will replace him on the active roster with utility player Ji Hwan Bae, who was recalled from Indianapolis.

  • Pirates' Ryan Kreidler: Plucked by Pittsburgh

The Pirates claimed Kriedler off waivers from the Tigers on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis. The 27-year-old Kreidler is capable of playing multiple infield and outfield spots, but he's slashed just .138/.208/.176 over 211 plate appearances across parts of four seasons in the majors with the Tigers. He'll report to the minors with his new organization but could be a candidate for a call-up when Pittsburgh's active roster expands to 28 men Sept. 1.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: DFA'd by Tigers

The Tigers designated Kreidler for assignment Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Kreidler has spent most of the 2025 season in the minor leagues, and he hasn't logged a big-league at-bat since April 20. The 27-year-old infielder will surrender his spot on the 40-man roster to Drew Sommers, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Optioned to Triple-A

The Tigers optioned Kreidler to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Kreidler's latest stint in the majors lasted just one day and he did not see any action. He's clearing out to make room for Chris Paddack, who was officially added to the active roster Tuesday.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Not in Friday's lineup

Kreidler is not in the Tigers' starting lineup against the Royals on Friday. Kreidler went 0-for-2 with two walks and one run scored in Thursday's contest, but he's recorded just one hit since April 4. He'll begin Friday's game in the dugout while Kerry Carpenter, Riley Greene and Zach McKinstry man the outfield.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: On bench Tuesday

Kreidler is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees. Kreidler will give way to Riley Greene in center field after starting in each of the Tigers' last three contests. Though he could have a fairly clear pathway to playing time in the outfield until Detroit gets one of Wenceel Perez (back), Matt Vierling (shoulder) or Parker Meadows (arm) back from the injured list, Kreidler has done little to warrant much attention in fantasy circles. He enters Tuesday's contest with a .136 average, three runs, one stolen base and no RBI in nine games and has struck out in 12 of his 25 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Serving as primary center fielder

Kreidler will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners. Kreidler has served as Detroit's primary center fielder so far this season, starting in five of the first six games while going 2-for-12 with a walk, a run and a stolen base. He'll likely move into a utility role or potentially even head to Triple-A Toledo once the Tigers get at least one of Wenceel Perez (back), Matt Vierling (shoulder) or Parker Meadows (arm) back from the injured list.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Officially makes Opening Day roster

The Tigers recalled Kreidler from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Kreidler was optioned this past weekend, but he rejoined the club earlier this week following a rash of outfield injuries. The 27-year-old looks to be the favorite to handle center field for the Tigers while Parker Meadows (arm) and Wenceel Perez (back) are shelved.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Sent back to Toledo

The Tigers optioned Kreidler to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday. Kreidler appeared in two games for the big club after being called up from Toledo on Monday, going 1-for-4 with a stolen base. For the season, he's slashing .136/.208/.205 with three stolen bases, one home run and two RBI across 48 major-league plate appearances. The move makes room on the Tigers' 26-man roster for Parker Meadows (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Returns to Triple-A

The Tigers optioned Kreidler to Triple-A Toledo on Monday. Javier Baez (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list, so Kreidler will head back to Triple-A since his playing time was about to dry up. Kreidler should receive everyday reps at a variety of positions at Toledo. He hit .125 with one home run and two stolen bases over 40 at-bats with the Tigers following his June 11 promotion.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Swipes two bases Tuesday

Kreidler went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Phillies. Kreidler stole the first two bases of his MLB career in the seventh inning. The 26-year-old has mostly been a bench player in the majors, so while Tuesday's effort was promising, it looks to be an outlier. Zach McKinstry should get most of the playing time at shortstop in the near future with Javier Baez (back) still on the injured list, pushing Kreidler to a reserve role most days.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Rehabbing at Single-A

Kreidler (finger) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Wednesday and has gone 0-for-6 with one walk and four strikeouts through his first two games. Kreidler has been on Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list since early April while recovering from surgery to repair a fractured right index finger. Once he regains his timing at the plate during the rehab assignment, Kreidler should settle back into an everyday role in the Toledo infield.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Diagnosed with fractured finger

Kreidler has been diagnosed with a fractured right index finger, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. Kreidler had already been placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Toledo and subsequent testing has revealed the fracture. He's still being evaluated, so it's not clear how long he might be out, but certainly he won't be an option for the Tigers for quite a while.

  • Tigers' Ryan Kreidler: Moves to injured list

Kreidler (hand) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports. Kreidler was unavailable the past few days due to the injury and will now be sidelined for at least the next week. He was sent for medical testing Sunday, the results of which remain unclear.
