Reds Clinch Final NL Wild Card Spot Thanks to Mets Loss

Player Outlook
Mitch Voit stole 20 bases in 22 games at Single-A after the Mets selected him 28th overall in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft. He was a two-way player his first two years at Michigan before needing internal brace surgery in July 2024. Since then, he focused solely on hitting and broke out with a .346/.471/.668 slash line, 14 home runs, 14 steals and more walks (40) than strikeouts (34) in 56 games last spring. Unlike many college second basemen, Voit actually has a chance to be a positive there defensively in pro ball, thanks to his plus speed and plus arm. He didn't face great pitching in the Big Ten, so it's tough to say how legitimate his junior numbers were, but he at least showed in his pro debut that he can work the count (13.1 BB%) and likes to put his speed to work on the bases.

  • Mets' Mitch Voit: Running wild at Single-A

Voit went 3-for-3 with two walks, a home run, three RBI, four runs scored and four stolen bases for Single-A St. Lucie on Tuesday. The 38th overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft is getting his first taste of pro ball, and he's already making a big impact with his legs. Tuesday's homer was his first with St. Lucie, but he's gone 15-for-15 in steal attempts. The Michigan product is batting just .219 so far, but he already seems to be making adjustments -- after going 7-for-42 (.167) through his first 11 games, he's banged out nine hits in 31 at-bats (.290 batting average) across his last eight contests, including all three of his extra-base hits.
