  • Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Invited to spring training

The Guardians have extended Bazzana an invitation to big-league camp in spring training.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Bazzana somewhat surprisingly was not invited to spring training last year, but he will be with the big club in camp this time around. Bazzana has had an underwhelming start to his pro career, having slashed .245/.389/.424 with nine homers and 12 steals in 2025 while being limited to 84 games due to oblique issues. He finished last season at Triple-A Columbus and is likely to head back there to begin the 2026 season, but Bazzana is could debut with Cleveland at some point during the summer.

  • Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Signs seven-year extension

Ramirez signed a seven-year, $175 million contract extension with the Guardians on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Ramirez still had three years left on the seven-year deal he signed with Cleveland prior to the 2022 season, but his new contract will ensure he remains with the Guardians through 2032. The 33-year-old third baseman has proven to be well worth the investment, as he's reached 150 games played in each of the past five seasons while averaging 31.6 homers, 102.4 RBI, 101 runs and 32 steals per year in that span.

  • Guardians' Franklin Gomez: Traded to Guardians

The Guardians acquired Gomez from the Mets on Thursday in exchange for international bonus pool money.

Gomez's 2025 season was split between Single-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn, and he finished with a 2.76 ERA and 68:34 K:BB over 71.2 innings between the two spots. The 20-year-old lefty will likely begin his tenure in the Guardians organization at High-A Lake County.

  • Guardians' Carter Kieboom: Nets NRI pact from Guardians

The Guardians signed Kieboom to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training.

Kieboom went 2-for-8 during a brief stint with the Angels in 2025 but spent most of the year at Triple-A Salt Lake, where he slashed .319/.368/.449 with nine homers in 93 contests. The 28-year-old will compete for a reserve role in Cleveland but is likely ticketed for Triple-A Columbus to begin the season.

  • Guardians' Steven Kwan: Settles at $7.725 million

Kwan signed a one-year, $7.725 million contract with the Guardians on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Kwan's .704 OPS during the 2025 regular season marked a new career low for him, though he was still fairly productive at the plate while batting .272 and driving in a career-high 56 RBI. He'll bring in a $3.55 million raise for the 2026 campaign and figures to continue playing in left field every day for the Guardians.

  • Guardians' Dom Nunez: Returns to Cleveland as NRI

The Guardians re-signed Nunez to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training.

Nunez went 2-for-7 at the plate during his brief time with the Guardians in 2025 and slashed .176/.330/.349 at Triple-A Columbus. He's likely headed back to Columbus to begin the 2026 season.

  • Guardians' David Fry: Won't be limited to DH in 2026

Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said earlier this month that Fry (face) is expected to resume playing defense during the 2026 season, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. "I'm just excited that David is going to be healthy," Vogt said. "David having a full winter, healthy, completed the [throwing] rehab. It's going to be really exciting to be able to use him the way his skill set is intended."

After undergoing Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow last November, Fry was cleared to make his 2025 debut for the Guardians in late May but ended being limited exclusively to designated-hitter and pinch-hitting duties throughout the season. His campaign came to an early end when he was hit in the face by a pitch from the Tigers' Tarik Skubal on Sept. 23, resulting in Fry requiring surgery to repair nasal fractures. Vogt suggested that Fry has fully healed from that procedure, putting the 30-year-old on track to resume duties as the team's third catch while also being in the mix for playing time at the infield and outfield corners in 2026. Fry's ability to hit lefties -- he had a .996 OPS against southpaws in 2024 -- should provide a boost to the Guardians, who ranked 27th against left-handers in 2025 with a .647 OPS.

  • Guardians' Pedro Avila: Returning stateside

Avila agreed to a one-year split contract with the Guardians on Sunday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Avila pitched in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball in 2025, logging a 4.04 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 61:30 K:BB in 82.1 innings while primarily working as a starter. The split contract means he will earn a higher salary for whatever portion of the season he spends in the majors. Given his poor 17.8 percent strikeout rate and middling 43.9 percent groundball rate in Japan, Avila will likely be used as a low-leverage reliever if he makes the big club out of spring training.

  • Guardians' Codi Heuer: Latches on with Guardians as NRI

The Guardians signed Heuer to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Heuer got into three games between the Rangers and Tigers in 2025 but spent most of the season at the Triple-A level, where he held a 3.14 ERA and 62:17 K:BB over 48.2 innings. The 29-year-old reliever will compete for a spot in the Guardians' bullpen but is likely headed to Triple-A Columbus to begin next season.

  • Guardians' Justin Bruihl: DFA'd by Cleveland

The Guardians designated Bruihl for assignment Saturday.

Cleveland just acquired Bruihl from Toronto in exchange for cash considerations Wednesday, but it appears the Guardians no longer see the southpaw as part of the team's big-league bullpen after they signed Shawn Armstrong on Thursday. Bruihl can elect to become a free agent if he passes through waivers unclaimed. He may have to settle for a minor-league deal eventually, as he holds a career 4.72 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 69:32 K:BB over 89.2 innings across 94 games spanning parts of five campaigns.

  • Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Gets NRI from Cleveland

Fairchild signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training.

Finger and oblique injuries kept Fairchild on the sidelines for the majority of the 2025 season, and he posted just a .606 OPS over 55 plate appearances with Atlanta when healthy. The 29-year-old outfielder will have a chance to win a job on Cleveland's bench during spring training, but he's likely destined to spend most of the upcoming season at Triple-A Columbus.

  • Guardians' Shawn Armstrong: Gets one-year deal from Cleveland

The Guardians signed Armstrong to a one-year, $5.5 million contract Thursday that includes a mutual option for 2027, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

The 35-year-old Armstrong had arguably the best season of his career in 2025 with the Rangers, putting up a 2.31 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 74:20 K:BB over 74 innings. It's a return to the organization that drafted him and where he debuted back in 2015 for Armstrong. The right-hander should be used in a setup role ahead of closer Cade Smith.

  • Guardians' Justin Bruihl: Traded to Cleveland

The Guardians acquired Bruihl from the Blue Jays on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Bruihl held a 5.27 ERA and 18:7 K:BB across 13.2 frames at the major-league level during the 2025 regular season. The left-handed reliever does not have minor-league options remaining, so he should have a good chance to crack the Guardians' Opening Day bullpen.

  • Guardians' Jhonkensy Noel: Booted from 40-man roster

The Guardians designated Noel for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Justin Bruihl. Noel has slugged 19 home runs across 351 plate appearances at the major-league level, but that's come with a .193/.242/.401 batting line, 32.8 percent strikeout rate and 4.8 percent walk rate. That said, he's just 24 years, and with his power potential, Noel should interest via trade or waivers.
