  • Suns' Thaddeus Young: Not listed on injury report

Young (recently signed) isn't listed on Phoenix's injury report ahead of Thursday's game versus Dallas. Young's deal with the Suns became official Tuesday, and it looks like he'll suit up Thursday. However, coach Frank Vogel said "we'll see" when asked if Young would see any playing time against the Mavericks.

  • Suns' Thaddeus Young: Officially signs with Phoenix

Young (not injury related) officially signed with the Suns on Tuesday, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports. This deal was reported Feb. 13, but it took a week to become official. Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reported Tuesday morning that Young is expected to be available for Thursday's game in Dallas, which is Phoenix's first contest following the All-Star break. However, even if Young is available, he's not guaranteed playing time right away.

  • Suns' Thaddeus Young: Expected to be available Thursday

Young is expected to finalize a one-year contract with the Suns within the next couple of days and will likely be available for Thursday's game in Dallas, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN first reported Feb. 13 that Young was working toward a deal with the Suns after being bought out by the Nets, but one week later, the veteran big man has yet to make the new contract official. If Young can put pen to paper on a deal Tuesday or early Wednesday, he could get in at least one practice session with the Suns before the team opens its post-All-Star-break schedule with a back-to-back set. Even if Young suits up Thursday in Dallas and Friday in Houston, he's not a lock to be included in head coach Frank Vogel's rotation.

  • Suns' Thaddeus Young: Inks deal with Phoenix

Young agreed to a one-year contract with the Suns on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Young hit the open market last week after the Nets acquired him from the Raptors ahead of Thursday's trade deadline and subsequently waived him. Prior to getting cut loose, Young had been part of the Raptors' rotation, averaging 6.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 62.7 percent from the field in 21.1 minutes per game across 15 appearances since Jan. 9. He joins trade-deadline acquisition Royce O'Neale in beefing up Phoenix's frontcourt while providing a connective presence. He could challenge Drew Eubanks for second-string center minutes behind Jusuf Nurkic.

  • Thaddeus Young: Waived by Brooklyn

Young was waived by the Nets on Thursday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Young was traded from the Raptors to the Nets on Thursday but will part ways with his new club a few hours after the transaction. He'll now seek out other opportunities to close out the 2023-24 campaign and could provide decent bench production for another team if he lands a contract.

  • Nets' Thaddeus Young: Moving to Brooklyn

The Raptors are trading Young and Dennis Schroder to the Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie on Thursday, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports. Young has seen an increased role for the Raptors lately, averaging 6.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 21.1 minutes across his last 15 appearances. However, the 35-year-old doesn't seem to fit Toronto's plan of a youth movement and will head to Brooklyn. With the Nets, Young will likely compete for minutes with Ben Simmons and Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle).

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Posts well-rounded stat line in win

Young totaled 16 points (8-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt), six rebounds and six assists across 32 minutes during Tuesday's 118-107 victory over Chicago. Young didn't generate any defensive stats, but he was a key contributor for the shorthanded Raptors with his work as a scorer, rebounder and distributor. The veteran forward's point total was his highest of the campaign, as was his 32 minutes of playing time. After rarely playing at the start of the season and notching double-digit points only once over the first 15 games in which he did suit up, Young has since reached 10 or more points in three of his past four contests while taking on a larger role in the absence of Jakob Poeltl (ankle). Poeltl is nearing a return, but Young could maintain a rotational role if Jontay Porter, who left Tuesday's matchup due to back spasms, misses additional time.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Starting Friday

Young will get the start at center in Friday's game against the Clippers, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports. The veteran big man has averaged 6.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists across 21.5 minutes in three starts this season.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Effective off bench

Young chipped in 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 26 minutes during Monday's 108-100 loss to the Grizzlies. Jontay Porter played just six minutes because he was poked in the eye, but even though he was cleared to return, the Raptors opted for smaller lineups. Young put together arguably his best performance of the season, so it will be interesting to see if this earns him a larger role going forward.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Back in bench role

Young will come off the bench Monday night against the Celtics, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports. Young has started each of the Raptors' last three contests, but Jontay Porter will get a shot at center Monday night. Young is averaging 4.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals over his last five contests.

Young is in the starting five for Tuesday's game versus the Lakers, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports. Young will replace Jakob Poeltl (ankle) in the starting lineup Tuesday. • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Gets garbage-time run

Young played the final 2:43 of Friday's 125-104 loss to Atlanta, recording no statistics during his time on the court. Young missed a handful of games in late November due to an illness, but he was cleared to play more than three weeks ago and has now suited up in each of the Raptors' last nine games. However, Friday's contest marked the first occasion during that nine-game stretch in which Young actually got off the bench, with the veteran forward getting some run in garbage time. Young doesn't look as though he'll be a rotation option for Toronto anytime soon.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Out again Wednesday

Young (illness) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Pacers, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports. This is the fourth straight game on the sidelines for Young. He's usually on the fringe of the rotation, so his absence won't impact too many fantasy managers.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Ruled out Tuesday

Young (illness) will not play in Tuesday's game against Orlando. Young was previously considered doubtful. His absence is unlikely to impact the rotation, as he doesn't always see the floor for Toronto.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Unlikely to play Tuesday

Young (illness) is doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Magic, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports. Young will likely miss a third straight game due to an illness. If that's the case, his next chance to suit up would come Wednesday in Indiana.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Dealing with illness

Young has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Celtics due to an illness, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports. Young wasn't listed on the initial injury report but won't play Friday due to an illness. The veteran's next chance to suit up will come Sunday versus Detroit. Young has mostly played in garbage time this season, so his absence shouldn't impact Toronto's rotation.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Plays 15 minutes

Young accounted for two points (1-2 FG), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 15 minutes of Sunday's 112-99 preseason win over the Kings. Precious Achiuwa (groin) sat this one out, while Chris Boucher and Jalen McDaniels each had decent roles off the bench behind Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl. Young still has plenty left in the tank, but he's not guaranteed a rotation spot to begin the 2023-24 campaign.

  • Raptors' Thaddeus Young: Officially cleared

Head coach Nick Nurse said Young (knee) is healthy and will be available Thursday versus the Pelicans, Aaron Rose of SI.com reports. Nurse previously said he expected Young to be available, but the veteran forward was still initially listed as questionable due to a left knee sprain he suffered in the team's final contest before the All-Star break. However, Young has officially been given the green light and should garner his usual backup role Thursday. Over his last five appearances, Young is averaging 5.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 18.0 minutes.
