  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Explodes for 43 points

Irving totaled 43 points (17-22 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Sunday's 122-120 loss to Denver. Irving delivered his best scoring performance of the season and carried the Mavs in this one, which is no small feat considering he plays alongside another elite player in Luka Doncic. Irving has been very productive to start the campaign, scoring at least 20 points in seven of his 10 appearances while averaging 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals per contest.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Stuffs stat sheet Friday

Irving finished with 29 points (10-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 7-9 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and three steals over 41 minutes during Friday's 114-113 loss to the Suns. Irving has been a productive option in the Mavericks' offensive scheme, and while there's no doubt Luka Doncic is the absolute go-to option in that department, Irving's numbers have been very good in their own right. The veteran floor general has scored at least 27 points in four of his last six appearances, a span in which he's averaging 25.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Pours in 27 points

Irving closed Monday's 134-127 loss to Indiana with 27 points (11-21 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes. Irving played a season-high 40 minutes in the narrow loss. Staying healthy is paramount for Irving, who saw action in just 58 regular-season games last season. He's off to a great start so far, averaging 23.9 points, 5.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals through seven games.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Scores 17 points Sunday

Irving finished Sunday's 108-85 victory over the Magic with 17 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 28 minutes. The Mavericks cruised in a 23-point blowout win over a depleted Orlando team, so they didn't need Irving to log heavy minutes. This was just the second time the star floor general played less than 30 minutes across his six appearances, but Irving should see something closer to his regular workload in Monday's matchup against the Pacers.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Well-rounded effort vs. Houston

Irving accumulated 28 points (10-20 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds and seven assists across 43 minutes during Thursday's 108-102 loss to the Rockets. Irving led the Mavericks in assists Thursday and was second in both points and rebounds behind Luka Doncic (29) and P.J. Washington (nine), respectively. Irving has scored 22-plus points in four straight games, and over that span, he has averaged 27.0 points on 50.6 percent shooting (including 64.0 percent from three on 6.3 3PA/G), 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 39.3 minutes per game.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Pours in 35 in Tuesday's win

Irving closed with 35 points (13-23 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal across 39 minutes during Tuesday's 120-114 win over the Timberwolves. It's the best performance of the young season for Irving, who carried the scoring load for the Mavs while Luka Doncic dealt with a minor knee injury he picked up late in the second quarter. Irving has been impressive from beyond the arc through four games, draining multiple threes in every contest while shooting 53.8 percent (14-for-26).

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Carries Mavs to victory Monday

Irving contributed 23 points (8-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal across 36 minutes during Monday's 110-102 win over the Jazz. Luka Doncic had a subpar shooting performance Monday, but Irving came through and carried Dallas to victory in this matchup. The veteran floor general has scored over 20 points in his last two appearances, and even though he'll operate as Dallas' second offensive option behind Doncic, that shouldn't prevent Irving from being a steady fantasy contributor across all formats, either as a scorer or as a playmaker.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Scores 22 points in loss Saturday

Irving provided 22 points (9-22 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, five assists and three steals over 39 minutes during Saturday's 114-102 loss to the Suns. Irving didn't have his best shooting performance Saturday and needed 22 shots to score 22 points, but he still ended as the Mavericks' second-best scorer behind Luka Doncic, who posted a 40-point performance. Irving's role as the Mavericks' second option on offense is pretty much set in stone despite the addition of Klay Thompson. Irving should be a reliable source of fantasy production regardless of your league format -- even if he has poor shooting performances from time to time.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Scores 15 in opener vs. Spurs

Irving closed with 15 points (6-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocks in 27 minutes during Thursday's 120-109 win over the Spurs. Irving struggled to get going right out of the gate, though he finished the game shooting a respectable 42.9 percent from deep. The superstar took a backseat offensively as Luka Doncic tallied a triple-double and Klay Thompson scored an efficient 22 points while shooting 60.0 percent from deep. Irving played only 27 minutes as Jaden Hardy (20 minutes) and Quentin Grimes (15 minutes) both got significant run, though that likely will not be the case every night.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Scores 14 points in final tune-up

Irving delivered 14 points (6-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks across 19 minutes in Thursday's 109-84 preseason win over the Bucks. The Mavericks cruised their way to a 25-point victory against a Bucks team filled with non-regulars, and Irving only saw action during the first half. If those 19 minutes evidenced anything, however, it's that the veteran guard is more than ready for the start of the regular season. Irving will play a significant role for the Mavericks in 2024-25 as Luka Doncic's backcourt partner.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Will play Thursday

Irving is no longer listed on the injury report and is expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Bucks. The Mavs released an injury report 30 minutes prior to tipoff noting that Irving would be held out for rest purposes, but the team issued an update minutes later noting that Irving will in fact play in the final preseason game. The star guard is now listed in the starting lineup alongside Quentin Grimes, Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Ruled out vs. Milwaukee

Irving won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Bucks due to rest purposes. The Mavericks had announced Irving would be available for the preseason finale, but they have changed course and have decided to rest the star floor general roughly 30 minutes before the 7:30 ET p.m. tipoff. Irving should be available and ready to go for the regular-season opener against the Spurs on Oct. 24, though.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Good to go against Milwaukee

Irving (rest) is available for Thursday's preseason game versus the Bucks, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports. Irving will return to action after sitting out Dallas' previous preseason contest for rest purposes. The star guard will likely play limited minutes as he ramps up for the regular season.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Taking a seat Monday

Coach Jason Kidd said Irving (rest) will not play in Monday's preseason matchup against the Clippers, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports. Irving will get a scheduled day of rest Monday as the preseason winds down. The All-Star's last chance to play during the preseason will come Thursday versus the Bucks.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Scores 12 points in preseason debut

Irving notched 12 points (6-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt), four rebounds and an assist across 17 minutes in Thursday's 107-102 preseason loss to the Jazz. Just like coach Jason Kidd announced before the 8 p.m. ET tipoff, Irving played less than 20 minutes and didn't step on the court in the second half. The veteran floor general should ramp up his minutes in the final two preseason outings against the Clippers and Bucks. Dallas opens the regular season against the Spurs on Oct. 24.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Will play under 20 minutes

Irving will play around 15-to-18 minutes during the first half of Thursday's preseason contest against the Jazz, coach Jason Kidd told Kevin Gray Jr. of AllDLLS.com. The minute restriction makes sense for Irving, as the Mavericks are looking to manage the workload of their star players with the regular season just around the corner. Irving will play alongside Klay Thompson during Thursday's game against Utah, but Luka Doncic (calf) remains out.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Expected back Thursday

Irving (rest) is expected to be available for the remainder of the preseason, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports. Irving was held out of Monday's exhibition against the Grizzlies for rest purposes, but head coach Jason Kidd said Monday that his starting point guard should play in the final three games of the preseason. Klay Thompson, who sat out Monday, is also expected to see action in the team's remaining exhibitions, which should give the duo a few chances to play together before the start of the 2024-25 season.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Feels good heading into camp

Irving said Monday that his surgically repaired left hand is doing "much better" ahead of training camp, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports. Irving said he had trouble winding down his activity following the Mavericks' loss to the Celtics in the NBA Finals. He went right back to work in competitive settings, which is where he broke his left hand. However, Irving said it was a blessing in disguise because it allowed him to rest and recover for the remainder of the offseason. He was shut down for eight weeks following his surgery in mid-July but has been ramping up his activity and remains on track for Opening Night.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: On track for training camp

Irving (hand) has been cleared for limited work during the offseason and remains on track for the start of training camp, NBA writer Marc Stein reports. Several Mavericks are practicing together in Los Angeles this week, including new addition Klay Thompson. Irving is with the group, but he's not participating in any scrimmages yet while working his way back from offseason hand surgery. Dallas made a surprise run to the NBA Finals last year but fizzled out and looked overmatched against Boston. A healthy Irving will be key if the Mavericks hope to replicate their success in 2024-25, so don't be surprised if he's limited to begin preseason work as a precaution. Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.0 minutes across 58 appearances during his first full season with Dallas last year.

  • Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Undergoes hand surgery

The Mavericks announced Tuesday that Irving underwent surgery to repair a broken left hand that he sustained earlier this month while training, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Irving appears to have suffered his hand injury sometime after Dallas lost to Boston in the NBA Finals. While it's unclear if the star guard will be forced to miss any of the 2024-25 campaign, the Mavericks are expected to provide updates as appropriate. In 58 regular-season appearances last season, Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.0 minutes.
