Plowden scored a season-high 19 points, just the second time he has recorded double digits all season. With Sacramento likely heading for a late-season shake-up, Plowden is a name to watch, just in case his role shifts at some point. While this was an encouraging performance, managers should not overreact just yet.

Plowden turned in a solid effort in his first start of the season Saturday, scoring 16 points, though he'll revert to a reserve role for Monday's contest. Plowden finished Saturday's 132-126 loss to the Cavaliers with 16 points (6-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, four assists and one steal across 39 minutes.
Plowden recently rejoined the parent club after another stint with the Kings' Stockton affiliate in the G League. The move appears to be Sacramento's first acknowledgment of a lost season and a willingness to take stock of its younger players. The Bowling Green product has bounced among several different teams since going undrafted in 2022, but he's developed his skills in G League competition and landed with a squad that's building a youthful core alongside a solid group of veterans.

Plowden will make the first start of his NBA career as the Kings will play a young starting lineup. Plowden will slot alongside two rookies, Maxime Raynaud and Nique Clifford, and veterans Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan. The Kings signed Plowden to a two-way contract Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
The Suns waived Plowden on July 6 after he was traded to Phoenix in the massive seven-team trade involving Kevin Durant landing with the Rockets. Plowden didn't play in Sunday's 126-108 G League loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers due to a right elbow strain.
The right elbow strain is a new injury for Plowden, and his next chance to suit up will come in the parent club's game against Memphis on Monday. The swingman has received the majority of his playing time in the G League, appearing in only two outings with the Hawks since signing a two-way contract with the club in December.

Hawks' Daeqwon Plowden: Returns to parent club
The Hawks recalled Plowden from the G League's College Park Skyhawks on Friday.
Plowden is back with the parent club after playing three games in the last three days. After logging 36 minutes for College Park in Tuesday's 112-108 win over the Cleveland Charge, Plowden joined Atlanta for Wednesday's 110-94 win over the Bulls and made his NBA debut, recording 19 points in 25 minutes off the bench. Plowden then played 22 minutes for College Park in Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Maine Celtics. Though he's rejoining Atlanta for Saturday's game in Boston, Plowden may not be included in the rotation if the banged-up Hawks are able to get one or more of De'Andre Hunter (foot), Jalen Johnson (shoulder) and Zaccharie Risacher (adductor) back in action.
