  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Productive in start Thursday

Filipowski notched 14 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and a steal across 30 minutes in Thursday's 115-113 win over the Mavericks. Filipowski earned a start for this game after notching a career-high 18-point effort off the bench in a loss to the Suns on Tuesday, and he carried the momentum into this contest. This was his highest-scoring start of the season, and it wouldn't be shocking to see him remain in a starting role when the Jazz take on the Kings on Saturday due to the lack of depth Utah currently has in its frontcourt. Taylor Hendricks (leg) is out, while the status of both Lauri Markkanen (nose) and Walker Kessler (hip) is uncertain in a best-case scenario.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Moves to starting role

Filipowski is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Mavericks, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports. Filipowski enters the lineup after scoring a career-high 18 points in the loss to the Suns on Tuesday. This will be the rookie's fourth start of the campaign, and he averaged 7.0 points with 5.3 rebounds per game in his previous three.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Lands career-high 18 points

Filipowski produced 18 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 120-112 loss to Phoenix. Filipowski poured in a career-high 18 points, logging at least 23 minutes for the second straight game. It's been an up-and-down season for the rookie, his role seemingly changing on a nightly basis. Given what we have seen thus far from the Jazz, there is certainly a world in which they are eliminated from the postseason discussion sooner rather than earlier. Should this be the case, Filipowski's minutes could increase on a more consistent basis.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Drops out of rotation

Filipowski played four minutes in Thursday's 123-100 loss to the Bucks, scoring zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and recording no other statistics during his time on the court. Filipowski had started each of the last three games while averaging 7.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 18.3 minutes, but he fell out of the Utah rotation Thursday while Lauri Markkanen (back) made his return to the lineup. The rookie second-round pick didn't check into the game until 4:13 remained in the fourth quarter, when the game was effectively over while the Bucks sat on a 20-point lead. Jazz head coach Will Hardy went with John Collins and Drew Eubanks as the primary backups in the frontcourt behind starters Markkanen and Walker Kessler, so it may take another injury to one of the quartet before Filipowski slots back into the rotation.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Posts 12 points as fill-in

Filipowski totaled 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes during Thursday's 106-88 loss to the Spurs. With Lauri Markkanen (back) temporarily sidelined, Filipowski drew the first start of his NBA career. Increased opportunity was already on the horizon after Taylor Hendricks (ankle) was lost for the season, although the current solution to that problem has been a frontcourt featuring Cody Williams. Filipowski's preseason outlook was bleak considering his position in the depth chart, but the shakeup will improve his chances to contribute.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Near double-double in elevated role

Filipowski recorded 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and one steal over 25 minutes during Tuesday's 113-96 loss to Sacramento. With Taylor Hendricks (ankle) likely done for the season and Lauri Markkanen (back) leaving Tuesday's contest early, Filipowski made the most of his expanded role. He totaled just nine minutes in the previous three contests, so it's unclear what the rookie's role will be moving forward, especially if Markkanen isn't sidelined long-term. However, if Markkanen is sidelined, Filipowski should have a clear path to consistent minutes.

  • Jazz's Kyle Filipowski: Impresses in SL finale

Filipowski recorded 26 points (8-22 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 7-7 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 33 minutes during Sunday's Summer League finale against the Pistons. Filipowski impressed in Utah's final Summer League matchup, posting game-high marks in points and rebounds. After a productive showing in the Summer League, Filipowski turns his sights to the regular season. The Duke product will likely have to earn his playing time to begin the season, but he could carve out a role alongside Lauri Markkanen and Taylor Hendricks as the season progresses.
