With Cason Wallace stepping into the starting five for Saturday's do-or-die matchup, McCain came off the bench after making two consecutive starts. The 22-year-old guard didn't deliver his most efficient performance, though he still tied the bench high in points and scored in double figures for a third straight game. The Duke product was traded from Philadelphia to Oklahoma City in February after an injury-plagued start to his career that included surgery to repair a torn meniscus in December 2024 and thumb surgery last September. He appeared in 30 regular-season outings (two starts) for the Thunder, averaging 10.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.8 triples and 0.9 assists while shooting 39.1 percent from downtown in 17.9 minutes per contest during that span. He figures to maintain a meaningful bench role for the Thunder in 2026-27.

Making his first start since the first game of the first round against the Suns on April 12, McCain provided strong secondary scoring for the Thunder. While it wasn't the best night for McCain shooting the ball, he saw his largest workload of the postseason. If Jalen Williams (hamstring) is unable to play in Game 3, McCain could again be called upon to play a larger role on the wings.
McCain recorded 12 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists across 15 minutes during Tuesday's 108-90 victory over the Lakers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
McCain made a strong impression off the bench, leading the second unit in scoring. Luguentz Dort has been underwhelming offensively for the Thunder, so McCain could potentially chip away at the veteran's workload if he keeps this up.
McCain isn't starting in Sunday's Game 1 of the Western Conference first-round series against Phoenix, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.
