Achiuwa has fallen out of the rotation over Sacramento's last three games or so, but it appears he's earned himself an opportunity to prove he belongs Monday night. Daeqwon Plowden will move to the bench with Achiuwa sliding into the starting five.

Kings' Precious Achiuwa: Moves outside rotation
Achiuwa (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Wednesday in the Kings' 129-125 loss to the Grizzlies.
Achiuwa had started each of the Kings' previous 13 games, but after playing less than 15 minutes in both of the past two contests, head coach Doug Christie opted to move him to the bench against Memphis. With De'Andre Hunter making his team debut Wednesday and fortifying the Kings' depth at forward, Achiuwa was dropped from the rotation entirely as Christie instead added guard Devin Carter (24 minutes) to the second unit to compensate for the losses of two backcourt players in Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis, who were traded to Cleveland in the Hunter deal. Unless Sacramento is without one of its key frontcourt options in a given game moving forward, Achiuwa could find himself out of the rotation for the foreseeable future.

Kings' Precious Achiuwa: Not starting Wednesday
Achiuwa isn't part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
Achiuwa will come off the bench for just the second time in 26 games, as the Kings will roll out a lineup of Russell Westbrook, Zach LaVine, De'Andre Hunter, DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis. Achiuwa had played just 22 total minutes in his last two appearances, but he should be one of the first bigs off the bench Wednesday.

Achiuwa ended Thursday's 113-111 loss to the 76ers with eight points (4-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt), 13 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes.
Achiuwa's 13 boards were a game high, and this was his fourth game in January with at least one steal and one block. His minutes fluctuate with the matchup, so he's not much more than a rebounding specialist in deep leagues. Through 16 games in January, Achiuwa has averaged 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.

The Kings have stuck with Achiuwa in the starting five, and Keegan Murray's (calf) premature exit padded the big man's bottom line in the loss. The Kings have tried to patch the gap left by Domantas Sabonis (knee) with mixed success, but the combo of Achiuwa and Maxime Raynaud has been somewhat effective. If Murray is held out for additional games, we may see a similar spike in Achiuwa's production as 2025 comes to a close.
