  • Wizards' Corey Kispert: Practices Tuesday

Kispert (ankle) was able to go through Tuesday's practice, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

The Wizards appear to be getting healthier. In addition to Kispert, Kyshawn George (ankle) and Malcolm Brogdon (hamstring) were both able to practice Tuesday. If Kispert gets the green light to return Thursday against the Hornets, he could have limitations after missing the past five games.

  • Wizards' Kyshawn George: Goes through practice

George (ankle) was able to practice Tuesday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

This is good news for Washington, as George has missed the past five games. However, his status for Thursday's game against the Hornets has yet to be determined.

  • Wizards' Kyle Kuzma: Ramps up rehab

Kuzma (ribs) has been ramping up his rehab, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

Kuzma's status for Thursday's game against the Hornets remains in the air, but the forward is progressing in the right direction after missing the past seven games for Washington. He's been a popular name in the rumor mill, and the Wizards are unlikely to rush him back at less than 100 percent.

  • Wizards' Malcolm Brogdon: Returns to practice

Brogdon (hamstring) was able to practice Tuesday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

Brogdon has missed the past four games for the Wizards, but he's progressing towards a return. For now, it sounds like he should be considered questionable to face the Hornets on Thursday.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Pops for 19 in loss

Coulibaly finished with 19 points (8-20 FG, 3-8 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists and one steal in 37 minutes during Sunday's 112-98 loss to Boston.

The streaky second-year wing is on the upswing again. After scoring no more than eight points in six straight games in late November and early December, Coulibaly has hit for at least 17 in three straight contests, averaging 21.0 points, 5.3 boards, 5.0 assists, 3.0 threes and 1.0 blocks over that short stretch. Coulibaly's overall production has taken a step forward in his sophomore campaign, but a true breakout will keep eluding him until he develops some consistency.

  • Wizards' Carlton Carrington: Double-double in Sunday's loss

Carrington contributed 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals over 40 minutes during Sunday's 112-98 loss to Boston.

The rookie guard recorded his second career double-double, with the first coming Nov. 8 against Memphis. Carrington has started four straight games while Corey Kispert (ankle) and Malcolm Brogdon (hamstring) have been sidelined, but his 7.5 points, 6.5 assists, 3.3 boards, 1.5 threes and 0.8 steals in 33.8 minutes over that stretch doesn't mark him as much of a fantasy asset, and his 30.0 percent shooting from the floor is an outright liability.

  • Wizards' Justin Champagnie: First career double-double

Champagnie racked up 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals across 39 minutes during Sunday's 112-98 loss to the Celtics.

Making his fourth straight start due to injuries to injuries to Kyle Kuzma (ribs) and Kyshawn George (ankle), Champagnie produced his first career double-double and just the second game of his career with 10-plus boards. The 23-year-old forward is averaging 16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.8 steals, 1.8 threes, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks during his stint in the starting five while shooting 55.1 percent from the floor. He may be playing well enough to hang onto a spot in the Wizards' rotation even after the roster gets healthier.

  • Wizards' Jordan Poole: Leading scorer in Sunday's loss

Poole accumulated a team-high 21 points (8-19 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 36 minutes during Sunday's 112-98 loss to the Celtics.

The 25-year-old guard continues to struggle with his consistency. Poole has scored 20-plus points in three of eight games since missing a couple of contests in late November due to a sore hip, but he's also scored 11 points or less three times in that span. Over that stretch, Poole's averaging 18.6 points, 5.6 assists, 2.8 threes, 2.5 boards and 1.4 steals, but he's shooting just 38.8 percent from the floor and 31.4 percent from long distance.

  • Wizards' Patrick Baldwin: Plays tail end of blowout

Baldwin (calf) played the final 33 seconds of Sunday's 112-98 loss to the Celtics and recorded no statistics during his time on the court.

Baldwin was back in action for Washington after he had previously missed four straight games earlier this month while tending to right calf inflammation. Though Washington was without five players due to injury Sunday, Baldwin still couldn't crack the rotation, as he didn't enter the game until the Celtics had the win well in hand.

  • Wizards' Corey Kispert: Not playing vs. Boston

Kispert (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Celtics.

Kispert will miss a fifth consecutive game with a sprained left ankle, and there's no clarity about when the forward will be able to return to the hardwood. Carlton Carrington is expected to continue seeing more minutes with Kispert out, though Johnny Davis and Jared Butler could also see more minutes. His next chance to play will come against the Hornets on Thursday.

  • Wizards' Kyshawn George: Another absence coming

George (ankle) won't play in Sunday's game versus the Celtics.

George's absence streak will extend to five games Sunday due to a sprained left ankle. George's next chance to suit up is Thursday's matchup with Charlotte.

  • Wizards' Kyle Kuzma: Remains sidelined for Sunday

Kuzma (ribs) is out for Sunday's game against the Celtics.

Kuzma will miss a seventh straight contest due to a rib sprain, and he doesn't have a clear timetable for his return. His next chance to suit up will come against the Hornets on Thursday.

  • Wizards' Malcolm Brogdon: Not playing Sunday

Brogdon (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Celtics.

Brogdon will miss a fourth consecutive game due to a hamstring injury, and there's no certainty on when the veteran guard will be able to return. His next chance to play will come against the Hornets on Thursday.

  • Wizards' Patrick Baldwin: Returns to parent club

The Wizards recalled Baldwin (calf) from the G League's Capital City Go-Go on Friday.

Baldwin will return to the NBA club after a brief stint in the G League to take part in practice and regain conditioning after he recently overcome a right calf injury. The 22-year-old forward is averaging 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in 5.1 minutes across 11 appearances for the Wizards this season.

  • Wizards' Bilal Coulibaly: Matches career high with 27 points

Coulibaly totaled 27 points (10-18 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, five assists and two blocks across 40 minutes during Friday's 115-105 loss to Cleveland.

It was an exceptional showing by Coulibaly, who matched his career-high scoring figure with a game-high 27 points as Washington went toe-to-toe with Cleveland on Friday. It appears Coulibaly is getting back on track following a dreadful cold spell that saw him shoot a mere 17.6 percent from the field over six games from Nov. 26 to Dec. 7, as the 20-year-old forward has now scored 17 and 27 points, respectively, in his past two outings. The 3-20 Wizards should remain committed to a starting role for the 2023 No. 7 overall pick amid his growing pains, and Coulibaly remains a strong source of defensive stats for fantasy managers alongside decent production across the board while handling big minutes.

... See More ... See Less
  • Wizards' Jordan Poole: Active hands defensively Friday

Poole ended Friday's 115-105 loss to Cleveland with 17 points (6-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals across 36 minutes.

Poole took a back seat to teammate Bilal Coulibaly's 27 points as Washington hung with the Cavaliers on Friday, but that didn't prevent him from filling up the box score and making a big impact on the defensive side of the floor, which isn't always his strong suit. Poole's scoring has been erratic lately, but overall, he's averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.6 three-pointers per game across his last nine contests. Volatility could remain a common theme for the 25-year-old combo guard throughout the season with the 3-20 Wizards, but Poole's efficiency could get a bump when Kyle Kuzma (ribs) gets healthy enough to help with the playmaking duties.

  • Wizards' Alexandre Sarr: Full stat line in return

Sarr (back) amassed 14 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 27 minutes during Friday's 115-105 loss to the Cavaliers.

Making his return to the lineup after a two-game absence due to a back injury, Sarr supplied the Wizards with a full stat line and didn't appear to be facing any restrictions. It's been an up-and-down rookie season thus far for the No. 2 overall pick, but he's been solid over his last seven games, averaging 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.7 three-pointers, 1.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and 0.9 steals per contest. The 19-year-old big man is still lacking in efficiency and carries more value in points leagues, but Sarr should remain a strong source of blocks in category leagues moving forward, and his offensive production should improve as the season rolls along.
