Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer expressed complete faith after the Sunday win at Tennessee in wide receiver Travis Benjamin, to whom he threw two touchdown passes in the last seven minutes to complete the biggest comeback in franchise history.
Benjamin has struggled as a punter returner and muffed one that would have stood as a fumble if not for a Titans penalty. But he made up for it with the scores, prompting Hoyer to talk about him after the win.
"My relationship with Trav goes back to when we were both rehabbing our ACLs, and I love the guy to death," Hoyer told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "He's quiet, but he was one of the guys that texted me over the bye wek and said 'We're better than this. I'm sitting here watching these games and we can win in this league.' To see a guy that doesn't talk all the time but sends out a text message like that shows how much it means to him."
The two-touchdown game was the first of Benjamin's career.
