Eagles tight end Zach Ertz appears on track to play Week 1 against the Falcons, as coach Chip Kelly said Wednesday he has been cleared to practice.

Ertz missed the preseason while recovering from a core muscle injury. He underwent surgery in mid-August, but he was expected to be fine by the season opener.

"It was a 4-6 week injury. We’re at the tail end of three weeks, going into the fourth. So we’re right on schedule," he said, per The Philadelphia Inquirer. "In the long run, it could be a blessing in disguise that I got this done. Hopefully, all the pain is behind me.”
