The Redskins’ running back situation remains just like last week: Roy Helu sidelined and Tim Hightower uncertain about when he’ll play.
Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that both of Helu’s Achilles are sore -- last week they only mentioned his left one. Hightower practiced Monday (it was a light workout), but Shanahan said his knee was sore. They’re hoping he might be able to play vs. Indianapolis on Saturday. Neither played Saturday vs. Chicago.
LB London Fletcher, who sat out Saturday’s game vs. Chicago, practiced and is expected to play vs. the Colts. LG Kory Lichtensteiger participated in the drills Monday, but it’s unlikely that he’ll play Saturday. Lichtensteiger is hopeful that he’ll be ready for the preseason finale Aug. 29 vs. Tampa Bay. Shanahan said he would not play his starters in that game because it comes four days after the Colts’ game.
DE Kedric Golston (elbow/triceps) and S DeJon Gomes (foot) both practiced as well.
