Fifteen-year NFL veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens is on his way to Seattle, according to Dave Mahler of KJR-AM. The Seahawks confirmed that Owens will work out for the team Monday.
Coach Pete Carroll seems to have a thing for slightly past their prime wide receivers this offseason. On July 26, the Seahawks signed Antonio Bryant. Five days later, the team welcomed former Browns and 49ers receiver Braylon Edwards into the fold. The Bryant era ended in Seattle after only 10 days, he was cut Sunday.
Owens, who is tied with San Francisco's Randy Moss for the second most receiving touchdowns in NFL history, hasn't been on a football field since a four-month stint earlier this year with the National Indoor Football League's Allen Wranglers. Like most things with T.O., that relationship came to a nasty end.
If Owens were to sign with the Seahawks, the relationship would kind of make sense. The Seahawks need receiver depth and Owens needs money.
Owens initially denied on Twitter that he's headed to Seattle, however, he has since deleted that tweet.
The 38-year-old Owens has played with five teams in his 15-year NFL career. His most recent action came with in 2010 with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns.
