  • Vincent Rey: Visiting with Ravens

Rey worked out for the Ravens on Tuesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Rey is among the better free-agent linebackers left on the market and he could serve as valuable depth on the interior for Baltimore. He's shown remarkable durability over his nine-year career, playing 16 games in seven of those seasons.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Draws start Sunday

Rey will start at outside linebacker in place of the injured Nick Vigil (knee) on Sunday against the Browns, Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Rey has played no more than 23 defensive snaps in each of the Bengals' past four games, but he'll see an increased workload Sunday with Vigil sidelined.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Full practice Wednesday

Rey (ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Rey injured his ankle in the preseason opener and proceeded to miss the remainder of the exhibition slate. However, his full participation in Wednesday's practice suggests the linebacker is now back to normal, fully on track to suit up for Sunday's season opener against the Colts.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Does not play Sunday

Rey (ankle) did not play in Sunday's preseason game against the Bills, Paul Dehner of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

As expected, Rey missed Sunday's game after it was announced that he would likely miss the entirety of the preseason following a right ankle injury against the Bears on Aug. 9. With Vontaze Burfict suspended for the first four games of the regular season, Jordan Evans and Brandon Bell are both in line for expanded roles within the Bengals linebackers corps.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Limited to rehab field

Rey (ankle) isn't practicing with the full team yet, instead being limited to work on the rehab field, Jay Morrison of The Athletic Cincinnati reports.

Rey's injury is particularly ill-timed, with Vontaze Burfict both injured and due to serve a four-game suspension to begin the season. Jordan Evans is the likely beneficiary of extra playing time as a result.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Likely out for preseason

Rey (ankle) will likely miss the rest of the preseason, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.

Rey has always seen his tackle count surge whenever Vontaze Burfict is out, and he could have been in line for more of the same this year with Burfict suspended for the first four games of the season. But that might not be the case this season - and not just because of this injury. The Bengals brought in Preston Brown -- who's been a high-volume tackler in the past -- and he's likelier to get that windfall than Rey.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Injures ankle

Rey injured his right ankle and is doubtful to return to Thursday's preseason opener against the Bears, Jay Morrison of the Dayton Daily News reports.

Rey went down while covering a punt and needed help walking off the field. It's possible the linebacker could be dealing with a serious injury.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Tackles surge with Burfict out

Rey had 10 tackles in the season finale against the Ravens, giving him 85 tackles for the season, with no sacks and one interception.

Rey's tackle count nearly perfectly correlated with absences from Vontaze Burfict. Burfict missed the first three games due to suspension, and Rey had 28 tackles. Burfict missed three of the last four games with injuries, and Rey had 27 more tackles. In between, Rey had only 30 tackles, though he missed two games of his own in that span. Rey's upside is capped, as he's not a pass-rusher or pass-defender. If he's not racking up big tackle numbers, he's not particularly helpful as an IDP.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Hauls in first INT of season

Rey made two tackles, one pass breakup and one interception Sunday against Detroit.

The interception was a nice bonus to Rey's fantasy value, but just two tackles is troubling. It wasn't for lack of opportunity either, as he played 52 of 64 possible defensive snaps. The Bengals draw the Ravens in Week 17, and the last time Rey played them he compiled 11 tackles (six solo). However, that was in Week 1, so Rey should still be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward option.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Full participant Friday

Rey (jaw) was a full participant at Friday's practice.

Rey was limited earlier in the week by a jaw injury, which he suffered during the Bengals' Week 15 loss to the Vikings. He's expected to play on Sunday after logging a full practice Friday, so he'll start at middle linebacker per usual.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Limited participant Wednesday

Rey (jaw) was a limited participant at the Bengals' practice Wednesday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Rey exited Sunday's loss to the Vikings with a jaw injury and was unable to return, but his participation in practice Wednesday makes it seem likely that he'll be available Week 16 against the Lions. Thursday and Friday's practice sessions should provide further clarity on his status for that contest.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Leads Bengals in tackles despite injury

Rey led the Bengals with 11 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings.

Rey exited at the start of the fourth quarter with a jaw injury and did not return, but he indicated on his verified Twitter account that he is okay. That's hardly an official update, though, so the 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the full extent of the injury is revealed.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Won't return due to jaw injury

Rey is out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Vikings with a jaw injury, Jay Morrison of the Dayton Daily News reports.

With Rey out, the Bengals currently only have three healthy linebackers -- Hardy Nickerson, Carl Lawson and Brandon Bell. With the game well out of reach, though, there was no rush to get Rey back into the game. If his injury is deemed serious, Rey could be in danger of missing his first game since the 2010 season.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Expected to start

Rey is expected to get the start at outside linebacker in Sunday's game against the Vikings, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official website reports.

After consecutive weeks as a healthy scratch, Rey logged six tackles (five solo) in last week's loss to the Bears. Due to multiple starters already ruled out, the veteran figures to see another relatively healthy workload this week. He is expected to play opposite Jordan Evans at outside linebacker while Hardy Nickerson mans the middle.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Avoids inactive list

Rey (hamstring) is not on the inactive list Sunday against the Packers.

Rey hasn't taken the field since logging 10 defensive snaps in Week 11, but with starting linebackers Nick Vigil (ankle) and Vontaze Burfict (concussion) inactive, he could be in for an expanded workload in Week 14.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Questionable for Sunday

Rey (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Rey is slotted as a backup middle linebacker, but with five starters already ruled out on defense -- including two linebackers -- he could be due for a large snap count Sunday. In 10 games this season, the 30-year-old has compiled 56 tackles (24 solo). If he can't play, expect Carl Lawson and Jordan Evans to receive a bulk of the snaps.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Won't play Monday

Rey (hamstring) was ruled out for Monday night's game against the Steelers.

Rey was unable to practice for the second consecutive week since sustaining the injury in Week 11's win over the Broncos. The Bengals will be forced to do some shuffling with their linebacking corps with Nick Vigil (ankle) also ruled out Monday.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Ruled out Sunday

Rey (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, Richard Skinner of WKRC-TV reports.

Rey was knocked out of last Sunday's game against the Broncos with the hamstring injury, and there was no report of the linebacker being able to participate in practice this week. Carl Lawson is expected to see additional snaps off the bench in Rey's absence this weekend.

  • Bengals' Vincent Rey: Unlikely to return Sunday

Rey is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Broncos with a left hamstring injury.

Rey initially was labeled questionable to return before being downgraded shortly thereafter. The 30-year-old typically serves as a reserve linebacker, and Carl Lawson, and to a lesser extent, Jordan Evans should step up in his absence.
