Top Kenny Vaccaro News

  • Kenny Vaccaro: Announces retirement

Vaccaro acknowledged last week that he's likely retired from professional football, Turron Davenport of ESPN reports. "Technically I am still a free agent," Vaccaro said. "I'm happy where I'm at, doing what I'm doing. I just really felt like this was something deep down inside that I wanted to do."

Vaccaro was released by Tennessee in March and has received offers from several NFL teams since then. However, he'll elect to end his playing career following eight professional seasons with the Saints and Titans and use the money he earned into launching an eSports organization. The 30-year-old totaled 610 tackles (437 solo), 11.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, 44 pass defenses, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries across his eight seasons.

  • Kenny Vaccaro: Cut loose by Tennessee

The Titans will release Vaccaro on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Vaccaro would have cost the Titans $6.9 million for 2021 if he remained on the roster, so it's unsurprising to see him get released. Amani Hooker should slot into Vaccaro's vacated starting role at safety fairly seamlessly, but the loss of Vaccaro is nonetheless a notable one for a Titans squad that also just parted ways with starting cornerback Malcolm Butler.

  • Titans' Kenny Vaccaro: Back practicing in full

Vaccaro (illness) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice session, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Vaccaro suited up as a starting safety for the Titans over 11 of the team's first 12 games of 2020, but an illness kept him inactive during Week 14 and 15 wins over Jacksonville and Detroit. Now back at practice with no restrictions, it appears the 29-year-old is on pace to play Week 16 in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers may be tempted to throw in Vaccaro's direction, as the Texas product has conceded a 73.7 percent completion rate with two touchdowns against him in coverage, forcing zero interceptions over 38 targets this season.

  • Titans' Kenny Vaccaro: Sitting out versus Lions

Vaccaro (illness) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Lions.

Vaccaro will miss a second straight game due to this illness, which hasn't been linked to COVID-19. Amani Hooker started in Vaccaro's place last week, and Josh Kalu received an uptick in usage as well. Vaccaro will look to heal up for next week's matchup against the Packers.

  • Titans' Kenny Vaccaro: Questionable for Week 15

Vaccaro (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against Detroit, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.

Vaccaro sat out last weekend's game against the Jaguars due to an ailment, and he isn't yet fully healthy. The starting safety has logged back-to-back limited practices, but it sounds like a final word on his availability could come down to a game-time decision.

  • Titans' Kenny Vaccaro: Won't play Sunday

Vaccaro (illness) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

With Vaccaro -- who had been listed as questionable -- now unavailable Sunday, look for Josh Kalu and Amani Hooker to see added work in the Titans' secondary versus Jacksonville.

  • Titans' Kenny Vaccaro: Deemed questionable for Sunday

Vaccaro (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Jaguars, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.

Vaccaro was added to the injury report Saturday. His illness hasn't been linked to COVID-19, but he could still miss the divisional bout. If Vaccaro ends up sidelined, Josh Kalu and Amani Hooker should both see substantial increases in their respective snap counts.

  • Titans' Kenny Vaccaro: Paces team in tackles Week 12

Vaccaro collected nine total tackles during Sunday's 45-26 win against the Colts.

Vaccaro missed Tennessee's Week 11 win at Baltimore because of a concussion, but he was able to return to full participation in practice by the following Wednesday. The Texas product has been active with 17 tackles over his past two appearances, but he remains without a takeaway in 2020. He's allowed two touchdowns while in coverage, surrendering a 76.7 percent completion rate over 30 targets this season.
