Storm Johnson: Released by Miami
Johnson was released by Miami on Saturday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Johnson was in a playing-time battle with a handful of other running backs for the right to be the backup to Jay Ajayi but didn't impress the coaching staff enough to stick with Miami. He could be brought back at the end of Week 1 when his salary wouldn't be guaranteed, but that seems unlikely.

Buccaneers' Storm Johnson: Capitalizes on Saturday opportunity
Johnson totaled 27 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and secured both of his targets for 28 yards in Saturday's 27-21 preseason victory over the Jaguars.
The young vet capped off a 10-play, 79-yard drive with a one-yard TD on the first play of the fourth quarter. Johnson also kickstarted that possession with nine-and-17-yard gains on the first two plays, and was productive in the passing game with his two targets. Johnson continues jockeying for a spot on the depth chart behind Doug Martin and Charles Sims and took a positive step towards that goal with his production Saturday.

Buccaneers' Storm Johnson: Signed by Bucs on Monday
Johnson was signed by the Bucs on Monday to compete for a backup job, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The 23-year-old tailback returns to the NFL after sitting out the 2015 season. Johnson was among the Jaguars' final cuts at the end of training camp last summer, after tallying 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his rookie campaign in 2014. The 5-foot-10, 216-pound back, who rushed for 1,139 yards and 14 touchdowns in his senior season at UCF, worked out for the Bucs last week. He'll likely wage a training camp battle with incumbent Mike James for the third running back spot behind Doug Martin and Charles Sims.
