Andre Williams: Not retained by Chargers
Williams (wrist) didn't receive a qualifying offer or minimum tender from the Chargers and has become an unrestricted free agent, per the league's official transaction log.
Williams has been a fantasy afterthought since his rookie year with the Giants when the Boston College product mustered his way to 721 rushing yards and seven scores on 217 carries. The 2014 fourth-rounder hasn't made much noise since and only earned 27 carries in his past two seasons as a backup with the Chargers, averaging 4.1 yards per tote. Given his deficiencies as a runner, it's unlikely Williams returns to fantasy relevance with whatever team he may sign with this offseason, but he's shown a willingness to play on special teams and should still be able to find an opportunity to compete for a roster spot.

Chargers' Andre Williams: Likely on roster bubble
Williams (wrist) appears to be on the roster bubble for the Chargers heading into the 2018 season, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
Williams was hardly utilized during the 2017 season, carrying the ball just nine times despite being active for eight games. A restricted free agent heading into the offseason, it appears as if Williams' opportunity for a larger role in the offense has fallen by the wayside, largely thanks to the development of undrafted rookie Austin Ekeler and the continued improvement of starter Melvin Gordon. While another backup option in Branden Oliver is expected to depart Los Angeles this offseason, Williams could still be displaced if the Chargers elect to add another young running back to the roster through the draft.

Chargers' Andre Williams: Placed on IR
Williams (wrist) landed on injured reserve Tuesday, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
Williams had only tallied two yards on two carries in eight games with the Chargers before racking up 23 yards on seven carries in Sunday's victory over the Redskins. However, he also came away from the contest with a season-ending wrist injury. Branden Oliver will presumably take over Williams' limited role, while Austin Ekeler is the clear No. 2 running back behind Melvin Gordon.

Williams suffered a broken wrist in Sunday's win over the Redskins and is out for the season, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com report.
Williams joined the Chargers in Week 5 and had few offensive opportunities prior to his seven carries for 23 yards against the Redskins. Veteran Branden Oliver should take over Williams' limited role, with Austin Ekeler the clear No. 2 running back behind starter Melvin Gordon.

Williams was cut by the Chargers at the start of September after an uneventful preseason. The team likely added Williams to bolster its backfield depth, with second-string running back Branden Oliver (hamstring) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants. Williams was cut by the Chargers on Saturday, Jack Wang of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Williams took 18 carries for 87 yards in a Week 17 spot start last year, but he fell down the depth chart this offseason when Branden Oliver came back strong from a torn Achilles' tendon. Oliver will serve as Melvin Gordon's top backup, with undrafted rookie Austin Ekeler rounding out the depth chart.

Chargers' Andre Williams: Unable to rack up yards in preseason loss
Williams finished Sunday's preseason loss to the Saints with 11 carries for 23 yards.
Williams registered the most carries on the team, but all of them came in the second half along with the second- and third-string units. The former Giants castoff is clearly behind starter Melvin Gordon and backup Branden Oliver on the depth chart, but there's still a chance for Williams to earn a roster spot after main competition for the No. 3 role at running back, Kenneth Farrow, injuring his ankle in the latter stages of Sunday's contest.
