Jake McGee: Becomes free agent
McGee (Achilles) wasn't tendered a contract by the Steelers earlier in the offseason and is now an unrestricted free agent, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
McGee missed the entirety of 2018 after suffering a torn Achilles' tendon at OTAs last May. It's unclear where the 27-year-old stands in his recovery.

Steelers' Jake McGee: Placed on injured reserve
McGee (Achilles) will be placed on injured reserve Monday, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
McGee tore his Achilles in OTAs last week and could be sidelined around 6-to-9 months. Barring an injury settlement, he's likely stuck on IR through the end of the league year.

Steelers' Jake McGee: Torn Achilles' tendon feared
McGee is believed to have suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during Wednesday's OTA session, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
McGee was a member of the Steelers' practice squad last season, but he reportedly stood a decent chance at making the 53-man roster in 2018. If the diagnosis of a torn Achilles' proves true, McGee would almost certainly miss the entire campaign.

McGee, an undrafted second-year tight end out of Florida, has spent time with the Raiders and Chargers since originally signing with the Panthers in May of 2016. He'll likely be competing with Dave Johnson and Phazahn Odom for the No. 3 tight end job.
