Marlowe recorded 11 tackles (10 solo) in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Chiefs.
Marlowe was very active Sunday, compiling a season-high 11 takedowns. He's now registered 21 tackles over the last three games, operating in a more significant role with Alohi Gilman (heel) unavailable.

The Chargers elevated Marlowe from the practice squad Saturday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Marlowe joined the Chargers' practice squad after being cut by the team Aug. 29. He played in Week 2 against the Titans, registering 21 snaps on special teams.

Dean Marlowe: Cut loose
Marlowe was released by Buffalo on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The veteran safety agreed to terms with Buffalo on May 22 before getting released Tuesday. Marlowe has had stints with Buffalo, Carolina, Atlanta and Detroit throughout his eight years in the league, tallying 119 tackles, seven pass deflections and two interceptions in 59 appearances. The 31-year-old will now be forced to look for a new home ahead of the coming season.

Bills' Dean Marlowe: Returns to Buffalo
Marlowe re-signed with the Bills on Monday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Marlowe finished last season in Buffalo after being acquired via trade with the Falcons. The 30-year-old played a total of 12 games between the two teams, recording 14 tackles (10 solo). He'll likely compete for a depth role in the Bills secondary.

Bills' Dean Marlowe: Won't return Sunday
Marlowe has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's divisional-round matchup against Cincinnati due to a groin injury.
Marlowe was traded to Buffalo midseason and was inserted into the starting lineup following Damar Hamlin's terrifying injury. Marlowe recorded an interception during the Bills' regular-season finale and had three tackles in Sunday's game before being ruled out. Jaquan Johnson has taken Marlowe's spot as the starting safety next to Jordan Poyer.

Marlowe will start Sunday's game against the Patriots, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
After the terrifying scene Monday night, Damar Hamlin has made tremendous progress, but he won't be able to play again this season, which forces Marlowe into the starting lineup at safety alongside Jordan Poyer. Marlowe hasn't played since Week 12 and has operated primarily on special teams since joining Buffalo, but he did log four tackles during a Week 8 start against the Panthers while he was a member of the Falcons.

Atlanta traded Marlowe to Buffalo on Tuesday in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round pick.
Marlowe played primarily on special teams for Atlanta before drawing a start in Week 8 with Jaylinn Hawkins sidelined due to a concussion. In Buffalo, Marlowe figures to provide depth at safety and could crack the starting lineup with Jordan Poyer dealing with an elbow injury and Micah Hyde (neck) on IR and out for the season.

Falcons' Dean Marlowe: Expected to start Sunday
Marlowe is expected to start at strong safety in the absence of Jaylinn Hawkins (concussion) during Sunday's matchup against Carolina, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Hawkins picked up a concussion during Atlanta's Week 7 loss to Cincinnati and was ruled out for Sunday's contest at the beginning of the week. Marlowe, who'll be making his 17th NFL start, played 15 defensive snaps in Hawkins' absence against the Bengals but figures to see an expanded role versus the Panthers. Across his last 38 appearances, Marlowe has totaled 96 tackles, five pass defenses, two interceptions and 1.5 sacks.

The Falcons re-signed Marlowe on Thursday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Marlowe initially made the 53-man roster but was released a day later. However, as expected, he's re-signed with the team after the Falcons placed a plethora of players on IR. The 30-year-old safety will likely operate as a backup behind Jaylinn Hawkins, who beat Erik Harris for the starting gig.
