  • Matt Bosher: Gets tryout in Buffalo

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Right back on injured reserve

Bosher (groin) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Just five days after he was activated from IR following an eight-game absence, Bosher has seen his injury-plagued 2019 effectively come to a close. The designation comes as result of an aggravation to his existing right groin injury, wrapping up Bosher's season with just nine punt attempts on the record, including one blocked punt during the Week 1 loss to Minnesota.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Questionable coming into Week 14

Bosher (groin) has been tagged with a questionable designation for Sunday's upcoming game against the Panthers.

The Falcons currently do not have another punter on the roster, but Matt Wile, Kasey Redfern and Ryan Allen have all been brought in for brief stints thus far this season. Bosher was re-activated from injured reserve Monday, and is attempting to make his first appearance since Atlanta's Week 4 game against the Titans.

The Falcons activated Bosher (groin) from injured reserve Monday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Returns to practice

Bosher (groin) was back at practice Wednesday and has been officially designated to return off of IR, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

The earliest Bosher could play is Dec. 8 against Carolina. The 32-year-old punter hasn't played yet in 2019, but all signs point to him making his season debut shortly, provided all goes well for Bosher on the practice field.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Lands on IR

Bosher (groin) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

It wasn't revealed that Bosher's injury is season-ending, so he'll be eligible to return to the team in Week 11. In his place, the Falcons signed Matt Wile to serve as their starting punter going forward.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: To miss second game of 2019

Bosher (groin) is out for the Falcons' Week 5 matchup against the Texans, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.

The veteran punter will now miss his second game out of Atlanta's past three, with Matt Wile the most likely candidate to step in for him after punting for the Falcons in Week 3 and since being added to the practice squad. Bosher upgraded from a limited participant during Wednesday's session to full participation Thursday, but it seems that he may have re-aggravated his groin injury.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Status up in the air

Head coach Dan Quinn provided some clarification to Bosher's injury Monday, saying it was a groin issue and not a thigh injury, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.

Bosher's injury kept him from kicking off in Sunday's victory over Philadelphia, and while he was still able to punt, it was clear that the injury was keeping him from striking the ball the way he usually can. Quinn also noted Monday that it's too early to decide whether Bosher will play Sunday against the Colts and that the team will first have to monitor him in practice this week.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Dealing with thigh injury

Bosher is dealing with a thigh injury and won't perform kickoff duties in Sunday's matchup with the Eagles, Mike Conti of Sports Radio 92.9 The Game reports.

As a result of Bosher's injury, kicker Matt Bryant is performing kickoff duties for the first time since 2008, and the team also had wide receiver Mohamed Sanu practicing kickoffs in warmups. It remains to be seen whether Bosher is able to perform his usual punting duties.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Concludes successful 2018 campaign

Bosher averaged 45.5 yards per punt on 60 attempts, while pinning 22 kicks inside the 20-yard line during the 2018 season.

If there's one area of improvement that requires Bosher's attention this offseason, it's getting off punts with more urgency. Since 2011 when he entered the league, no NFL punter has surrendered more blocked punts than Bosher (eight). Still, it was a relatively successful 2018 season for the 31-year-old, as his 22:3 pin:touchback ratio ranked seventh best among punters with at least 20 attempts on the year. With precise placement and kicking power, he also helped contain opponents to 6.8 yards per return, a substantial improvement from his mark of 8.1 yards allowed per return in 2017. The veteran remains under contract for another year, and his roster spot appears to be secure following a solid 2018 season.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Has punt blocked

Bosher averaged 39.0 yards per punt on three attempts during Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Steelers.

Bosher pinned two kicks inside the 20-yard line, but he also had a punt blocked blocked by Roosevelt Nix, helping lead to a Pittsburgh touchdown late in the third quarter. That makes two blocked attempts in the past three weeks for the Falcons' special teams, while Bosher himself has allowed more blocked punts than any other punter since he entered the league in 2011.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Ruled out for final preseason game

Head coach Dan Quinn announced that Bosher will be inactive for the Falcons' final preseason tilt against Miami on Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Bosher looked sharp in Saturday's tune-up against the Jaguars by pinning four of his five punts inside the twenty-yard line, and multiple times stranding Jacksonville inside the 6-yard line. The seven-year veteran will get a rest in the preseason finale as Atlanta looks to keep him healthy for the kickoff to the regular season next Thursday against the Eagles.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Active Monday

Bosher (ankle) is listed as active for Monday's game against the Seahawks.

Bosher, who is nursing an ankle injury, was considered a game-time decision heading into the evening. The Falcons do not have another punter on their roster, so it is possible Bosher could still be playing through some pain. However, he will likely take on his usual responsibilities barring any setbacks.

  • Falcons' Matt Bosher: Questionable Monday

Bosher (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game against the Seahawks, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Bosher will be a game-time decision as he continues to nurse an ankle injury. The Falcons do not have another punter on their active roster at the moment and unless they pick someone up in the next day or two, it seems more than likely that Bosher will be ready to go. If not, veteran kicker Matt Bryant would likely take over punting responsibilities.
