  • Bengals' Noah Spence: Signs with Bengals

Spence signed with the Bengals on Sunday.

Originally drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round back in 2016, Spence has already spent time in Tampa Bay, Washington and New Orleans. The well-traveled young vet has 7.5 sacks through 41 career games and will look to help bolster the Bengals' pass rush.

  • Noah Spence: Cut by Saints

Spence was released by the Saints on Monday, Jeff Nowak of WWL Radio Sports reports.

Working his way back from a torn ACL that wiped out his 2020 campaign, Spence was trying to make the conversion from defensive end to linebacker in order to make the Saints roster. It appears that experiment is over, at least for the time being, as New Orleans trims its roster in order to meet league requirements before Tuesday's deadline.

  • Saints' Noah Spence: Placed on NFI-R list

Spence was placed on the Saints' Non-Football Injury Reserve list Tuesday with a knee injury, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.

Spence tore his ACL while preparing for training camp and was placed on the NFI list in order to make room on the 90-man roster for another player. The 26-year-old recorded three tackles (one solo) and a sack across seven games with the Saints last season. The team has yet to provide a timeline for Spence's return, but given the timing and nature for his injury, it's likely he'll be sidelined for most, if not all, of the 2020 season.

  • Saints' Noah Spence: Returning to New Orleans

Spence signed with the Saints on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The Saints signed Spence late in the 2019 campaign but let him go to free agency this offseason. Spence is now back with the team, though the terms of his deal have yet to be disclosed. The 2016 second-round pick has registered two sacks over the last three seasons after racking up 5.5 sacks as a rookie in 2016.

  • Saints' Noah Spence: Heads to NOLA

Spence signed with the Saints 53-man roster Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Spence spent seven games with Washington earlier this year, posting three tackles and a sack in a reserve role. The Saints expect 2018 first-round pick Marcus Davenport (foot) to be done for the year, so Spence will add depth on their defensive front.

  • Noah Spence: Let go by Washington

The Redskins waived Spence on Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

Spence couldn't carve out a consistent role with the Redskins this year, as he averaged just 10.4 defensive snaps per game en route to three total tackles. If the 25-year-old clears waivers, he may land on the team's practice squad.

  • Redskins' Noah Spence: Inks deal with Redskins

Spence signed with the Redskins on Wednesday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.

A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Spence barely played with the Buccaneers last season, so now he'll have a fresh start with Washington. He'll simply add depth to their linebacker corps, and Spence's main contributions should be on special teams.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Slated for new role in 2019

General manager Jason Licht indicated Wednesday that Spence could be used as a linebacker in 2019, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Tampa Bay is transitioning to a 3-4 base defensive scheme under new coordinator Todd Bowles, and the relatively undersized Spence would be a poor fit up front in the trenches in such a system. That means Bowles could have Spence turn his focus to setting the edge from an upright stance. Regardless of where he lines up, Spence still has a lot of work to do in order to carve out a bigger role than he held in 2018. He logged more than 10 defensive snaps on two occasions, but there's potential for him to significantly rebound from a three-tackle, zero-sack season.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Adds 35 pounds as offseason initative

Spence, eager to add some weight following the end of last season, put on 35 pounds this offseason, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

The recipe for the added pounds included devouring nine to 10 meals per day during the offseason. The body transformation is aimed at making Spence a more complete football player in which he can serve as a three-down defensive end rather than a pass-rushing specialist. The first live-action glimpse of a more complete Spence can be seen during Thursday's preseason game against Miami.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Back to full health

Noah recently indicated that he's 100 percent healthy and his shoulder has regained full range of motion, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The beginning of Spence's professional career has been derailed by a reported four different shoulder dislocations. The 2016 second-rounder didn't need to miss a game after one such dislocation during his rookie year, but Spence experienced another in Week 2 of last season and was ultimately placed on injured reserve in late October after trying to play through the pain. In an effort to put the issue behind him, Spence had a Latarjet procedure that is designed to treat recurring shoulder dislocations. The defensive end now can focus on carving out a role in the pass-rush rotation ahead of the 2018 campaign. With offseason acquisitions Jason Pierre-Paul and Vinny Curry brought in as likely starters, Spence will presumably begin the year in a backup role.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Injury could be long term

Spence's season-ending shoulder injury has been described by head coach Dirk Koetter as "long term," Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

In the same report, however, Laine relays that the Buccaneers are hopeful that the surgery Spence underwent in Colorado after being placed on season-ending injured reserve has corrected the problem. The second-year defensive end dislocated his shoulder a total of four times over a span of 12 months, with the first instance having come in Week 4 of his rookie 2016 campaign against the Broncos. Spence also underwent surgery on the shoulder last Jan. 11 to repair what was at the time a fully torn labrum suffered against the Panthers in the 2016 season finale. A first-round talent that slipped in the draft due to off-the-field concerns, Spence has flashed his pass-rushing acumen over his first 22 career games despite often playing hurt and in a part-time role, collecting 6.5 sacks. He'll look to be ready for the start of OTAs, with further updates on his condition expected as that time draws near.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Hits IR with dislocated shoulder

Spence was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Bills, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

It's the fourth time that Spence, a 2016 second-round pick, has dislocated his shoulder, with the latest occurrence set to require season-ending surgery. The defensive end played through a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum for much of his rookie campaign before dislocating the shoulder again in Week 17 and requiring offseason surgery. The Buccaneers had expected big things from Spence in his second season, but the defensive end managed just nine tackles and one sack in six games before being shut down after he couldn't play through the shoulder issue any longer. Veteran Darryl Tapp was signed Wednesday to provide extra depth along the defensive line.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Set to play Sunday

Spence (shoulder) will be active for Sunday's game against the Bills, Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com reports.

Spence was a full participant during Friday's practice after nursing a shoulder injury earlier in the week, so he'll be ready to provide depth on the defensive line in Week 7 behind Robert Ayers and William Gholston.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Practices without limitations

Spence (shoulder) practiced without limitations Friday and is questionable to play Sunday against the Bills, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

Spence has been nursing this injury for most of the season but hasn't missed a game, so he should be expected to show up in at least a limited fashion. Still, he plays a backup role on the defensive line and shouldn't be considered an IDP option.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Limited in Wednesday's practice

Spence (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

The second-year defensive end is continuing to play through a shoulder injury and could well be limited for the entirety of the season. He's struggled to make much of an impact thus far, posting no more than two tackles in any contest and notching only one sack, which came in the opener. Given that he's been able to persevere through the first five games, it's likely that Spence suits up against the Bills in Week 7, but the week's remaining practice sessions will shed further light on his status.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Makes comeback in Week 4

Spence (shoulder) was listed as active for Sunday's game against the Giants.

The Bucs' defensive line could have been seriously thin, but Spence along with Robert Ayers (knee) both were able to make a return. Spence will be used sparingly on defense, and he shouldn't be considered an IDP threat at this time.

  • Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Questionable for Week 4

Spence (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, Jenna Laine of ESPN reports.

Spence's shoulder injury didn't limit him in practice whatsoever this week, so he seems likely to suit up. If he doesn't, Tampa Bay could have a thin rotation at defensive end versus the Giants.
