Nick Rose: Tries out in Dallas
Rose tried out for the Cowboys on Monday, Howard Balzer of BalzerFootball.com reports.
Rose has not signed with a team this entire season after spending time with the Texans and Chargers in 2018. Although he got an opportunity to workout with the Cowboys, it appears the team is sticking by Brett Maher for now.

Nick Rose: Team search continues
Rose won't sign a contract with the Bears after working out for the team Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Rose, Younghoe Koo and Caleb Sturgis all participated in the tryout, but the Bears are opting to stick with Christ Blewitt and Redford Jones as their kickers for now. Rose went 11-for-14 on field-goal attempts over 10 games between the Chargers and Redskins in 2017 but didn't see any NFL action last season.

Nick Rose: Set to try out with Chicago
Rose will try out with the Bears on Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Rose hasn't played in the NFL since 2017 when he spent two games with the Chargers and eight with the Redskins. Between the two organizations, he converted 11 of 14 field goals with a long of 55 yards. The Bears don't have an experienced kicker on their roster, but Rose will have competition in his tryout from Younghoe Koo.

Nick Rose: Waived by Chargers
Rose was waived by the Chargers on Tuesday, Sam Fortier of The Athletic reports.
Rose's release by the Chargers comes less than a week after he was signed to help with kickoffs in the divisional round. He was on the field for three kickoffs and had no potential fantasy value while Michael Badgley was handling field goals. Rose will set his sights on making a roster in 2019 after failing to latch on with a team during the 2018 regular season.

Chargers' Nick Rose: Signs with Chargers
Rose signed with the Chargers on Thursday, Sam Fortier of The Athletic reports.
The Chargers are bringing back their kickoff specialist from 2017 in advance of Sunday's game against the Patriots, who have a dangerous return man in Cordarrelle Patterson. Rose kicked touchbacks on eight of his nine kickoffs in 2017, per Fortier.

Nick Rose: Let go by Houston
Rose was cut by the Texans on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Rose struggled mightily during the preseason, missing kicks in each game he appeared in for the Texans. Having kicked for the Redskins and Chargers in 2017, the 24-year-old has made 11 of 14 field-goal attempts and five of six extra-point kicks in his NFL career. Rose will become an unrestricted free agent if he isn't claimed off waivers by another team.

Texans' Nick Rose: Misses kick for second straight week
Rose went 2-for-2 on extra-point kicks and missed both of his field-goal attempts in Saturday's preseason loss to the Rams.
One of the misses was a 57-yard attempt as time expired, so we're not giving Rose a demerit for that, but the 32-yarder he hooked into the left upright is problematic. The 24-year-old has missed kicks in both preseason games he's appeared in as a fill-in for the injured Ka'imi Fairbairn (undisclosed) -- Rose misfired on an extra-point kick the previous week against San Francisco. Fairbairn is expected to suit up Week 1 against the Patriots, but if his return is delayed, Rose's performance will likely have the Texans looking for another kicker.

Texans' Nick Rose: Still in camp
Rose remains in Houston's camp while starting kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn continues to be sidelined by a soft-tissue injury, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Rose filled in for Fairbairn during the team's second preseason game Saturday against the 49ers, when he connected on a 32-yard field goal but missed an extra-point kick. "I don't know where Fairbairn's at (with his recovery)," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "He's working hard to get back. He's a great guy, but we've got Rose in there now. Rose needs to make all of his kicks, just like everybody else needs to improve. Then, we'll see where Fairbairn's at."

Texans' Nick Rose: Signs with Houston
Rose auditioned for the Texans on Wednesday and signed a contract with them, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
This is expected to be a short-term roster addition. Starting placekicker Ka'imi Fairbairn is sidelined by a minor undisclosed injury that may cause him to miss Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers. Rose is a local product out of the University of Texas and kicked for Washington and the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017. He's made 11 of 14 field-goal attempts and five of six extra-point kicks.

Nick Rose: Released by Jets
Rose was waived by the Jets on Monday, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
Rose was claimed off waivers by the Jets last month after finishing the 2017 season with the Chargers. The Texas product, who's converted 11 of 14 field-goal attempts and 23 of 26 PATs in 10 career games, will become an unrestricted free agent if he isn't claimed off waivers by another team.

Jets' Nick Rose: Claimed by Jets
The Jets have claimed Rose off waivers from the Chargers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Cairo Santos is also on the Jets' roster, so Rose isn't guaranteed anything in his new context, but he will presumably compete to fill the team's place-kicking role, held last year by Chandler Catanzaro. Rose spent time with both Washington and Los Angeles in 2017, en route to converting 11 of 14 field-goal attempts and 23 of 26 extra-point tries.

Chargers' Nick Rose: Cut loose
The Chargers waived Rose on Friday, Jack Wang of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Rose spent time with the Redskins and Chargers last season, converting 11 of 14 field-goal attempts and 23 of 26 extra-point tries. The Chargers signed Roberto Aguayo in January and Caleb Sturgis in March, likely setting up a kicking battle during training camp.

Chargers' Nick Rose: Misses two field goals in two weeks
Rose made one of his three field-goal attempts with the Chargers this season.
Rose, the fourth kicker the Chargers brought in during the regular season, struggled to make much of an impact during his two weeks as the starter. General manager Tom Telesco made a point of emphasizing the need to find a capable kicker in his final press conference of the season, which likely means Rose won't be around to begin the 2018 campaign.

Chargers' Nick Rose: Misses only field-goal attempt
Rose missed his only field-goal attempt but did make both of his extra-point tries in the 14-7 win over the Jets on Sunday.
Another Chargers kicker, another miss. It seems like whomever the Chargers sign to knock in field goals seemingly does the opposite, as newly minted kicker Rose shanked a 47-yard attempt wide right in the second quarter. The revolving door at the kicker spot has failed to bring much promise in terms of fantasy, meaning Rose, like many of the other kickers that have played for the Chargers this season, isn't a viable fantasy option in most formats.

Nick Rose: Signed by Chargers
Rose was claimed off waivers by the Chargers on Monday.
Rose was waived by the Redskins on Saturday after Dustin Hopkins (hip) was activated from injured reserve. Rose made 10 of 11 field-goal attempts and 18 of 20 extra-point attempts in eight games with the Redskins, apparently doing enough to convince the Chargers that he's a better option than Travis Coons, who was released for the corresponding transaction. A Week 16 matchup with the Jets instantly makes Rose a usable fantasy option.

Nick Rose: Waived by Washington
Rose was waived by the Redskins on Saturday.
Head coach Jay Gruden indicated Rose would compete with a healthy Dustin Hopkins (hip) for the kicking job earlier this week, but after Hopkins was activated from injured reserve Saturday, it became clear that Rose was the loser in the battle. Rose converted 10 of 11 field goals and 18 of 20 extra points during his time with the Redskins, but was rarely tested beyond 40 yards. The 23-year-old may not see another NFL opportunity as the 2017 season draws to a close, but should have a chance to prove himself somewhere in training camp next fall.

Redskins' Nick Rose: Will face competition from Hopkins
Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday that Rose would face competition from fellow kicker Dustin Hopkins, who is eligible to return from injured reserve for any of Washington's remaining three regular-season games, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Sidelined since suffering a hip rotator muscle strain in Week 4, Hopkins, who opened the season as the Redskins' kicker, returned to practice Wednesday for the first time in two months, thereby making him one of two players the team can bring back from IR this season. The Redskins will evaluate how Hopkins looks from a health and performance standpoint in practices this week before determining if he's fit to play as soon as Sunday's game against the Cardinals, but there's a chance he might not be viewed as a better option than Rose, who has been serviceable -- if not spectacular -- since taking over as kicker. In eight games with Washington, Rose has converted 18 of 20 extra points and 10 of 11 field goals, though only two of those kicks have come from more than 40 yards. Those who have been relying on Rose in fantasy leagues will want to check back prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. EST kickoff to see if Gruden has elected to stick with him in Week 15.

Redskins' Nick Rose: Misses extra point Sunday
Rose was one for two on extra-point attempts in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Chargers.
Rose missed his second extra point of the season and is now 18-for-20 on the year. He'll look to get back on track Sunday when the Redskins face the Cardinals.

Redskins' Nick Rose: Two field goals Thursday
Rose connected on both field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Thursday's win over the Giants.
Rose continues to impress this season as he is now 10 for 11 on field-goal attempts through six games. The original plan was to use Rose until Dustin Hopkins was able to return from a hip injury, but if the rookie kicker continues at this rate, Washington may not feel the need to bring back Hopkins until next season.
