Crockett went undrafted out of North Dakota State in 2015 but hasn't appeared in a game since his rookie season with the Packers, when he accrued 21 yards on nine carries in two appearances. He'll likely need to impress offseason in order to crack the final roster come September 2018.

John Crockett: Inks deal with Baltimore practice squad
The Ravens signed Crockett to their practice squad Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Crockett will take the spot of Jeremy Langford, who was moved to injured reserve with an undisclosed issue. The Ravens' depth at running back has already been tested not even a quarter of the way through the season with Danny Woodhead (hamstring) and Kenneth Dixon (knee) on injured reserve and Terrance West (calf) also banged up, so it's not inconceivable for Crockett to receive a promotion to the 53-man roster at some point in 2017. The North Dakota State product has two career NFL appearances to his name, both of which came in 2015 as a member of the Packers.

Raiders' John Crockett: Signs deal with Oakland
Crockett (shoulder) signed with the Raiders on Friday.
Crockett joins Oakland after spending his first two years with the Packers. Although the undrafted tailback rushed nine times for 21 yards as a rookie, he spent the entirety of last season on Green Bay's injured/reserve list. The former North Dakota State standout will now hope to latch on with the Raiders by impressing during training camp.

John Crockett: Not tendered by Green Bay
Crockett (shoulder) is an unrestricted free agent after not receiving a free agent tender from the Packers, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.
Crockett spent the entire 2016 season on injured reserve due to his shoulder injury. He has only nine career rushing attempts and isn't likely to have much of a role with any team in 2017.

Prior to his early exit, Crockett operated as the clear No. 3 running back, taking 13 carries for 46 yards while playing ahead of Brandon Burks and Brandon Ross. The 2015 UDFA should still have a spot on the team, but if he isn't ready for Week 1, the Packers will likely retain Burks or Ross on the final roster.

Crockett managed just 21 yards on nine rushing attempts as a rookie, and he didn't impress much despite scoring in his first action of 2016. It's clear that he's still lagging behind presumed starter Eddie Lacy and James Starks in Green Bay's running back pecking order since he didn't get in the game until they were both done for the night.

Packers' John Crockett: Expanded role expected for HOF game
Crockett is expected to handle an expanded role in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game versus the Colts, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Eddie Lacy is considered a DNP candidate due to an ankle injury, while James Starks will "probably be limited to spot play," according to Silverstein. If the preceding comes to fruition, the trickle-down effect should allow Crockett to receive a greater share of the RB reps in the first of five exhibition games for the Packers.

Crockett was in uniform Sunday for the first time since Week 13, but he was not involved in the offense until after starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers was removed from the game, so it's unlikely he will be much of a factor in the Packers' key Week 17 matchup with the Vikings.

Crockett's promotion from the practice squad in Week 13 was eventually noteworthy, as Eddie Lacy faced a reduced workload due to a violation of team curfew. However, with Crockett out of the picture this Sunday, Lacy is likely on course for a split of the touches with James Starks. Crockett will stick around to serve as running back depth.

Packers' John Crockett: Looks good in first pro action
Crockett had five carries for 22 yards in Thursday's victory over the Lions.
While it is not readily apparent by looking at the stats, Crockett -- playing in his first NFL game -- may have been the spark for the Packers' big comeback Thursday night. He jump-started the offense with a couple nice runs early in the second half and was far more effective running the ball than either James Starks or Eddie Lacy, who combined for just 19 yards on 14 carries. It seems highly unlikely that Crockett will jump either Starks or Lacy on the depth chart, but he likely earned himself more looks with Thursday's showing in his NFL debut.

Packers' John Crockett: Promoted by Packers
Crockett was signed from the Packers' practice squad to the 53-man roster in advance of Thursday's game at Detroit, the team's official site reports.
After losing Green Bay's No. 3 RB gig to Alonzo Harris out of training camp, Crockett has spent the entire season to date on the practice squad. However, the organization has opted for a change, putting Crockett a few steps away from a relevant role. In the meantime, though, he'll be blocked by Eddie Lacy and James Starks.
