Randy Gregory: Cut loose by Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers released Gregory (personal) on Sunday, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Gregory failed to report to training camp in late July, which prompted Tampa Bay to place the veteran pass rusher on the reserve/did not report list. Head coach Todd Bowles said Sunday that he never received a reason for Gregory's absence, though the 2015 second-rounder continues to be involved in a discrimination lawsuit against the NFL due to a $500,000 fine he received in 2023 for the use of THC. Gregory appeared in 12 regular-season games for the 49ers last season and registered 11 tackles (10 solo), including 2.5 sacks.

Buccaneers' Randy Gregory: Placed on reserve list
Tampa Bay placed Gregory of the reserve/did not report list Tuesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
The Buccaneers made the transaction after Gregory wasn't present Tuesday for the first day of training camp. The 31-year-old was also absent from the Buccaneers' three-day minicamp in June, and he currently has an open lawsuit against the NFL and the Broncos for discrimination due to a $500,000 fine he received last season for using THC.

Buccaneers' Randy Gregory: Not at minicamp
Gregory was not in attendance for minicamp Tuesday, JC Allen reports.
Gregory currently has an open lawsuit against the NFL for discrimination in regard to a $500,000 fine he received last season for using THC, which he was prescribed to treat anxiety and PTSD. The Nebraska product signed a one-year contract with the Bucs in April, and his absence Tuesday was not excused. It's not clear if Gregory will report to minicamp before its end or what his status is for training camp.

Buccaneers' Randy Gregory: Adds depth to Tampa Bay defense
Gregory agreed to a one-year deal with the Buccaneers on Wednesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Gregory will reunited in Tampa with outside linebackers coach George Edwards, whom the 2015 second-round pick played for while both were with the Cowboys. The addition of the 31-year-old will bolster Tampa Bay's edge rotation, with Gregory coming off a 2023 regular season in which he recorded 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 16 games between the Broncos and 49ers.
