Matt McGloin: Cut by Chiefs
McGloin was released by the Chiefs on Sunday, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
The Chiefs initially kept three QBs on the 53-man roster but ultimately settled on just Patrick Mahomes and Chad Henne. It will be difficult for McGloin to find work before Week 1.

Chiefs' Matt McGloin: Has roster spot for now
McGloin has a spot on the Chiefs' initial 53-man roster, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
The Chiefs will keep three QBs on their initial roster, with McGloin joining starter Patrick Mahomes and presumed backup Chad Henne. The team may still end up cutting McGloin before Week 1 to add help at another position.

Matt McGloin: Cut loose by Houston
The Texans released McGloin on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
McGloin's prior relationship with head coach Bill O'Brien, who previously coached the quarterback at Penn State, wasn't enough to keep the 27-year-old around for more than a week. The Texans signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson to take McGloin's spot on the roster and act as the team's third-string option at the position.

The Texans will sign McGloin to a contract Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
McGloin played for Texans head coach Bill O'Brien at Penn State, so he'll presumably be able to get up to speed with the Houston offense in short order. He's on track to back up Tom Savage on Sunday in the wake of the stunning news Thursday that starting quarterback Deshaun Watson (knee) tore his ACL during Wednesday's practice.

Texans' Matt McGloin: Third stringer in Houston
McGloin, who signed with the Texans on Friday, will initially slot in as the No. 3 quarterback for Houston, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Texans signed both McGloin and T.J. Yates to address their depth at quarterback in the aftermath of Deshaun Watson's (knee) season-ending ACL tear. Tom Savage will get the first crack at starting duties, with Yates stepping in as the top backup. As a result, McGloin is expected to be inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts.

Eagles' Matt McGloin: Gains experience in offense
McGloin completed 28 of 42 passes for 205 yards and an interception in Thursday's preseason game versus the Packers.
McGloin entered the game after Carson Wentz led Philadelphia to a touchdown on its opening drive. Despite playing most of the contest, McGloin's 4.9 yards per attempt left much to be desired. With 28 completions, however, the veteran offseason addition definitely gained valuable experience within the Eagles offense.

Eagles' Matt McGloin: Reaches terms with Eagles
McGloin agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Eagles on Monday.
McGloin returns to his home state after spending his first four seasons with the Raiders, for whom he started seven of his 13 games played. Although the 27-year-old has featured in just six contests since his rookie campaign, McGloin offers the Eagles an experienced third option behind starting quarterback Carson Wentz and backup Nick Foles, cementing their depth at the position ahead of offseason activities.
