Saints' Alvin Kamara: Inactive as expected Sunday
Kamara (groin) is inactive for Sunday's Week 18 matchup against the Buccaneers, the team's official site reports.
Kamara was fully expected to miss his third consecutive game to close out the season Sunday, and that is now official. In the star running back's absence -- and that of Kendre Miller (concussion) -- versus Tampa Bay, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who gained 30 yards on seven touches in his Week 17 team debut and was promoted from the practice squad Saturday, could serve as the de facto lead back while Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims rotate in for complementary snaps.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Doubtful for Sunday
Kamara (groin) is doubtful for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, Jeff Nowak of WWL Louisiana reports.
Kamara didn't practice this week, but coach Darren Rizzi said the running back will go through a workout Saturday morning to give him once last chance to prove he's healthy enough to play. Kamara mentioned wanting to play earlier this week, and he's just 50 yards away from the first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career. As much as he'd like to play, it sounds like his injury situation isn't cooperating.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Not practicing
Kamara (groin) doesn't appear to be practicing Friday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Kamara reportedly wants to play and is just 50 yards away from his first 1,000-yard rushing season, but it seems his groin isn't cooperating and he'll likely miss another game. Kendre Miller (concussion) was also missing from the start of Friday's practice, likely leaving the Saints backfield in the hands of Jamaal Williams, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jordan Mims for Sunday's season finale against Tampa Bay.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: DNP on Thursday
Kamara (groin) was held out of Thursday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The same can be said for reserve RB Kendre Miller (concussion), giving the pair just one more opportunity to mix into drills before the Saints potentially make a ruling on their statuses ahead of Sunday's season finale at Tampa Bay. Kamara hasn't taken part in any drills since suffering an adductor injury Week 15 against the Commanders, thereby threatening a third consecutive absence to end the campaign. Jamaal Williams, Jordan Mims and practice-squad member Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be the candidates to man New Orleans' backfield Week 18 if that comes to pass.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: No practice Wednesday
Kamara (groin) didn't practice Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Kamara has yet to take part in drills since sustaining an adductor injury Week 15 against the Commanders. With Kendre Miller in the concussion protocol, Jamaal Williams, Jordan Mims and practice-squad member Clyde Edwards-Helaire are the Saints' healthy running backs at the moment. Kamara will have two more chances this week to get back on the practice field before the team potentially makes a ruling on his status for Sunday's season finale at Tampa Bay.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Week 18 status up to medical staff
Kamara (groin) wants to play Sunday versus Tampa Bay, but that decision will be left up to the Saints' medical staff, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Kamara has sat out each of New Orleans' past two games due to an adductor injury. The star running back didn't practice at all last week, and he'd almost certainly have to return in at least a limited capacity this week in order to have any chance of suiting up Sunday. Kendre Miller currently is in the concussion protocol, so Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims could form the Saints backfield Week 18 if neither Kamara nor Miller is able to play.

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Out for Week 17
Kamara (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Raiders.
Kamara wasn't able to practice this week due to an adductor injury and thus will miss a second consecutive game. Without Kamara's services Monday at Green Bay, Jordan Mims actually led the Saints backfield in snap share (45 percent) to Kendre Miller's 39 percent and Jamaal Williams' 18 percent. However, Miller's 10 touches went for 31 yards, Mims' nine touches equated to 32 yards, and Williams' three carries resulted in eight yards. Kamara has one more chance Week 18 at Tampa Bay to make an appearance this season.
