  • Cody Parkey: Has chance with Chiefs

Parkey (groin) received a tryout with the Chiefs on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Parkey was last with the Saints in 2021, ultimately ending up on IR and reaching an injury settlement with the team. Now healthy, Parkey was given the opportunity to earn a chance with the Chiefs, as they prepare to possibly be without Harrison Butker (ankle) on Thursday. However, the Chiefs signed Matt Ammendola, who was also present at the tryout, to their practice squad instead.

  • Saints' Cody Parkey: Ticketed for IR

Parkey will be placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a groin injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Parkey, whom the Saints signed Oct. 5, made his team debut in Sunday's 33-22 win over Washington and connected on three of five point-after attempts in the victory. According to Rapoport, Parkey tweaked his groin in pregame warmups, which likely explains the inaccuracy on his extra-point tries. Rather than waiting to see how Parkey progresses from the injury during the team's Week 6 bye, the Saints will instead elect to find a replacement before their next game Oct. 25 in Seattle. One option could be Wil Lutz, who has been on injured reserve all season while recovering from core-muscle surgery but who could be ready to go by the end of the month.

  • Cody Parkey: Released by New Orleans

Parkey (groin) was released by the Saints with an injury settlement Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Parkey was set to be placed on injured reserve by New Orleans on Tuesday, but he was instead released with the injury settlement. He went 3-for-5 on PATs and didn't attempt a field goal during Sunday's win over Washington, when he apparently suffered the injury during pregame warmups.

  • Saints' Cody Parkey: Struggles with extra-point attempts

Parkey converted three of five PATs during Sunday's 33-22 win over Washington.

Even though he didn't get a chance to redeem himself with any field goals, this will likely be Parkey's first and last game with New Orleans, especially if Wil Lutz (abdomen) is able to return from injured reserve after the Saints' Week 6 bye.

  • Saints' Cody Parkey: Inks deal in New Orleans

The Saints signed Parkey (quadriceps) on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Saints worked out a number of running backs Tuesday, but Parkey was the only kicker involved in the proceedings. After enduring a subpar four-game stretch from Aldrick Rosas in place of the injured Wil Lutz (core muscle surgery), the team released the former and sought out a replacement. Parkey himself lost out on a kicker competition in Cleveland this summer, partly due to a quad issue that forced him to IR and eventually got him cut. He has passed a physical, though, and now will serve as New Orleans' kicker for at least one contest.

  • Cody Parkey: Parts ways with Browns

The Browns cut Parkey (quadriceps) from injured reserve Tuesday, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.

Parkey hit IR due to a quadriceps injury Monday, but rather than have his 2021 season end there, he's reached an injury settlement with the Browns. As such, Parkey will be free to sign elsewhere when back to full health. Chase McLaughlin is the only remaining placekicker on Cleveland's roster.

  • Browns' Cody Parkey: Going on IR

Parkey is headed for IR due to a quad injury, Dan Labbe of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

As a result, Chase McLaughlin currently is the Browns' only healthy placekicker, though it's quite possible that some competition will be brought in shortly. With that in mind, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com suggests that Ryan Santoso of the Giants is someone the Browns could potentially target.

  • Browns' Cody Parkey: Suffers quad injury

Parkey suffered a quad injury in Sunday's preseason contest against the Giants, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Parkey converted the extra-point attempt after the team's first touchdown and subsequently kicked off. Presumably, he suffered the injury during one of those two events, as he did not appear in the game after. There has been no timeline given for a potential return. Though the Browns brought in Chase McLaughlin to compete for the kicker job, Parkey is presumed to be the frontrunner for the role assuming he can return to health.

  • Browns' Cody Parkey: Shares kicking duties in opener

Parkey made two of two field-goal attempts in Saturday's 23-13 win over the Jaguars in Preseason Week 1.

Parkey is the presumed starting placekicker, 'though the Browns added Chase McLaughlin to camp. The two shared kicking duties Saturday, each getting opportunities on field goals, extra points and kickoffs. If there's a competition going on, then it might be notable that McLaughlin had longer kickoffs (all touchbacks), while two of Parkey's were returned, including one for 76 yards, which was called back by a holding penalty. Parkey is expected to return to the job he held last season.

  • Browns' Cody Parkey: Improved accuracy

Parkey made all five field-goal attempts during Tuesday's practice, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Parkey had a miserable first day kicking, making just one of five, but he's been perfect in the two sessions since then. While the Browns will carry Chase McLaughlin in camp and preseason games, there doesn't appear to be much of competition. Of note, Parkey hasn't attempted any kicks from 50-plus yards, and his longest make from last season was 46 yards.

  • Browns' Cody Parkey: Rough start to camp

Parkey missed four of five field-goal attempts during a kicking session at Thursday's practice, Dan Labbe of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Parkey stabilized Cleveland's kicking game when he was brought in prior to Week 2 of 2020 and was perfect through the Browns' playoff run. He also may have stabilized his career. He spent the last six seasons kicking for six different franchises and hasn't been a starting kicker for the same team in consecutive seasons yet during his career. Parkey, who has been successful on 86.4 percent of his attempts over his career, has a challenger in camp, Chase McLaughlin, who nailed all five of his attempts.
