The Falcons waived Allison on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Falcons' Geronimo Allison: Signs with Atlanta
Allison signed with the Falcons on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Allison heads to Atlanta coming off of a disappointing tenure with the Lions over the past two seasons. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver did not register a single reception while seeing just two targets over three games this past season after opting out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID concerns. Allison now joins an influx of receiver talent for Atlanta and likely will compete with fellow veterans Damiere Byrd and KhaDarel Hodge for a depth role heading into the 2022 season.

Geronimo Allison: Signed to practice squad
Allison re-signed with the Lions' practice squad Thursday.
Allison has played in three games with Detroit this season but hasn't brought in either of his two targets. In his four-year stint with the Packers prior to joining the Lions, Allison recorded 1,045 receiving yards across 46 games. The 27-year-old was waived by the Lions on Tuesday after his two weeks of practice-squad eligibility was up, and given the team's generally thin depth at receiver, he's likely to be promoted to the active roster before the end of the season.

Lions' Geronimo Allison: Inactive for Week 8
Allison (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Eagles.
Allison was active for the Lions last two contests, but he failed to record a catch on just two targets. KhaDarel Hodge will likely continue to operate as Detroit's No. 3 wideout behind Kalif Raymond and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Lions' Geronimo Allison: Gets two targets
Allison was targeted twice but did not record a catch during Sunday's 28-19 loss to the Rams.
In his second game of the season, Allison shared the No. 3 role at wide receiver with KhaDarel Hodge while Kalif Raymond and Amon-Ra St. Brown clearly ran as the top dogs. However, it will probably take a lot more for Allison to become a worthwhile fantasy contributor with Jared Goff after he failed to do so with Aaron Rodgers from 2016 to 2019.

Lions' Geronimo Allison: Return to Motown in store
Allison was elevated from the practice squad Saturday.
Saturday's designation marks Allison's second stint with the Lions, though he technically never played a game with them after opting out of the 2020 season. With the Lions decimated at wide receiver with both Tyrell Williams (concussion) and Quintez Cephus (collarbone) on injured reserve, Allison already represents the most veteran pass catcher among a depth chart that includes likely starters Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond. It's possible the longtime Packers wide receiver could push KhaDarel Hodge for work as the No. 3 wideout this week against the Bengals.

Geronimo Allison: Joins Detroit's practice squad
The Lions signed Allison to their practice squad Wednesday.
The Lions top wideout Tyrell Williams was placed in concussion protocol after taking a hard hit in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. Detroit has a group of unproven pass catchers behind Williams, so Allison will offer some insurance if Williams is unable to suit up in Week 2.

Geronimo Allison: Released by Detroit
The Lions released Allison on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After opting out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 concerns, Allison wasn't guaranteed a spot on the initial 53-man roster this season. It was reported early in training camp that his chances of making the roster relied heavily on his ability to contribute on special teams. Despite his struggles on special teams, Allison could garner interest from teams looking for help at wideout. Before joining Detroit, he racked up 1,045 yards and six touchdowns over four years with Green Bay.
