Texans' Nick Chubb: Questionable after full practice

Chubb was inactive for the Texans' Week 15 win over the Cardinals, but he appears to be trending toward a return to action Sunday following back-to-back full practices. Meanwhile, fellow RB Woody Marks (ankle) -- who didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday -- also has been deemed questionable after logging a limited session Friday. In any case, the Week 16 statuses of both players is slated to be confirmed once Houston's inactives are posted ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Chubb's fantasy lineup viability this weekend hinges on Marks' availability, with Jawhar Jordan a candidate to see added snaps against Las Vegas if either Marks or Chubb are limited or out.

Texans' Nick Chubb: Should play after full practice
Chubb (ribs) was a full practice participant in Thursday's practice.
Barring any setbacks coming out of Friday's practice, Chubb looks like he'll be ready to return from a one-game absence and approach this Sunday's game against the Raiders without an injury designation. Before injuring his ribs early in a Week 14 win over the Chiefs, Chubb had been playing second fiddle to Woody Marks in the backfield during the second half of the season, but Chubb could have a chance to take on greater volume in Week 16. Marks emerged from this past Sunday's win over the Cardinals with an ankle injury and has sat out both of the Texans' first two practices this week. As a result, Marks' availability for the matchup with Las Vegas would appear to be murky at the moment.

Chubb (ribs) was a limited participant Wednesday in his return to practice.
Fellow Texans running back Woody Marks (ankle) was a non-participant after his early exit from Sunday's 40-20 win over Arizona. Chubb was inactive for the contest but now appears on track to return for Sunday's game against Las Vegas, with his role largely depending on Marks' health. Jawhar Jordan ran for 101 yards this past Sunday, doing most of his damage in the second half after Marks left early. Coach Demeco Ryans said afterward that Marks could've returned if the game had been closer.

Chubb missed Sunday's 40-20 win over Arizona, during which Woody Marks tweaked his ankle injury and missed the second half. Coach Demeco Ryans said afterward that Marks could've returned if the score had been closer, but there's nonetheless some question about Houston's Week 16 backfield picture now that Chubb is back on the practice field while Marks is sitting out Wednesday. An upcoming matchup with the Raiders equates to increased fantasy appeal for whoever gets most of the carries, be it Marks, Chubb or Jahwar Jordan (16 touches for 118 yards last week).

He was unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning to practice Friday as a limited participant, prompting the Texans to list him as questionable heading into the weekend. Ultimately, Chubb wasn't able to make enough progress to give it a go Sunday, so his absence should clear the way for rookie Woody Marks to serve as Houston's lead option out the backfield. Chubb suffered an injury to his ribs last Sunday night against Kansas City and missed the first two days of practice this week. Chubb has missed Houston's first two Week 15 practices after exiting the team's Week 14 win over Kansas City due to a rib injury. Woody Marks (knee) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday and will likely continue to work as the lead back Sunday against Arizona, while Dare Ogunbowale could move up to the change-of-pace role usually occupied by Chubb if the veteran running back is ultimately sidelined Sunday.
