Texans' Nick Chubb: Free agency awaits
Chubb had four carries for 14 yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 28-16 playoff loss to New England.
Chubb finished up his first season in Houston with 122 carries for 506 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He added 13 catches on 20 targets for 67 yards. Chubb was meant to back up Joe Mixon (foot) but opened the season atop the depth chart before Woody Marks eventually pushed him aside for the lead role. Chubb averaged just 4.4 carries per game over the final seven weeks of the regular season, and the 31-year-old enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Texans' Nick Chubb: Gets extra run in garbage time
Chubb rushed 10 times for 48 yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Monday's 30-6 wild-card win over the Steelers.
Chubb took a back seat to rookie starter Woody Marks (19-112-1) as he had been doing in the second half of the regular season. It was the veteran backup's first game with double-digit carries since Week 9 of the regular season. Six of his 10 carries against Pittsburgh came in garbage time late in the fourth quarter, so DFS players should not expect this kind of workload from Chubb against the Patriots in the divisional round.

Texans' Nick Chubb: Slated for RB2 duties
Chubb is set to serve as the Texans' RB2 behind Woody Marks for Monday's wild-card game against the Steelers after Jawhar Jordan (ankle) was ruled out.
Chubb saw just one carry in two of his last three games in the regular season before being rested for Week 18 against the Colts. He opened the season as the Texans' top running back and logged double-digit carries in six of Houston's first eight games, but he has since been surpassed by the rookie Marks. Chubb was rested in the regular-season finale against the Colts, but his absence from the injury report confirms the notion that he was inactive Week 18 due to a coach's decision and will be available for Monday's wild-card game against the Steelers. Chubb (ribs) took six carries for 33 yards and caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Raiders.
Chubb returned from a one-game absence in time to help fill in for injured starter Woody Marks (ankle), though it was Jawhar Jordan -- signed from the practice squad earlier this week -- who led the Texans in backfield touches (20) and total production (70 yards) Sunday. Chubb has been a shell of his former self while attempting to fill the void left by Joe Mixon (foot/ankle) in Houston's backfield this season, producing a 121-505-3 rushing line across 15 active games. With Marks potentially returning in Week 17, Chubb's value is limited to deep formats for Saturday's tilt against the Chargers.

Chubb (ribs) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders but could be in line to serve as the Texans' top ball carrier in Week 16 with Woody Marks (ankle) trending toward missing the contest, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Before sitting out the Texans' Week 15 win over the Cardinals due to a ribs injury, Chubb had begun to cede more work on the ground to Marks over his most recent appearances. However, Marks exited the Week 15 game early due to an ankle injury of his own, then sat out practices Wednesday and Thursday before returning to the field Friday as a limited participant. Like Chubb, Marks is listed as questionable, and though he had been pushing to play Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston relays that the Texans plan to have the rookie rest his ankle this week. Assuming Chubb -- who practiced fully Thursday and Friday -- is officially cleared upon the release of Houston's inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, he could take on the brunt of the carries out of the backfield with Marks out of the picture. Meanwhile, Jawhar Jordan is also expected to have a role in the game plan after a 15-carry, 101-yard performance in Week 15, and Dare Ogunbowale could see more involvement on passing downs.
