Nick Fitzgerald: Logs tryout Tuesday
Fitzgerald (hamstring) worked out for the Broncos on Tuesday, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
Fitzgerald had been dealing with the hamstring issue as far back as training camp, forcing him to land on the Active/non-football injury list with the Saints. As evidenced by this news, he appears to be recovered from the injury and looking to latch on to a roster after he went undrafted out of Mississippi State in April.

Fitzgerald was being developed into a hybrid QB/TE role, somewhat like Taysom Hill's role with the Saints, but the Bucs have opted to move on. The Mississippi State product will now look for a new opportunity.

Nick Fitzgerald: Lands on Bucs' practice squad
Fitzgerald (hamstring) signed with the Buccaneers' practice squad Sunday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Tampa Bay originally signed Fitzgerald as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State immediately after this year's draft. The 23-year-old was placed on the NFI list with a hamstring issue July 23 and missed all of the Buccaneers' training camp and preseason action.

Buccaneers' Nick Fitzgerald: Hits NFI list to open camp
Fitzgerald (hamstring) will begin training camp on the Active/Non-Football Injury list, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Fitzgerald carries a bit more intrigue than the standard undrafted rookie quarterback. There's been talk this offseason of deploying him in a manner similar to versatile signal-callers like Joe Webb and Taysom Hill, who have also seen time on special teams and as both ball carriers and pass catchers during their respective NFL tenures. Fitzgerald's 6-foot-5 frame may ultimately help him carve out a spot on special teams in particular, and, by extension, the final roster. However, the Mississippi State product will apparently have to wait at least a short time before getting the chance to start making his case in camp.

Nick Fitzgerald: To sign with Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers are expected to sign Fitzgerald to an undrafted free-agent contract, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
A three-year starter at Mississippi State, Fitzgerald had his most impressive season as a sophomore in 2016 before regressing a bit the past two years. For his career he completed 54.2 percent of his passes, totaling 6,207 yards, 55 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He'll compete with Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin for a backup quarterback slot with Tampa Bay in 2019.
