Elliss (knee) was a full practice participant Thursday, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
A knee injury limited Elliss's practice participation Wednesday, but the 2019 seventh-round pick was able to practice without restrictions Thursday. Barring any setbacks, Elliss should be able to suit up against the Cowboys on Sunday. Elliss has logged 65 combined tackles through the first eight games of the regular season, which is most on the Falcons and ranks No. 14 in the NFL.

Falcons' Kaden Elliss: Dealing with knee issue
Elliss (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Elliss had a monster performance in the Falcons' Week 8 win over the Buccaneers, tallying 11 total tackles across 68 defensive snaps. However, it now appears the Idaho product picked up a knee injury in the process. If Elliss is unable to suit up for the Falcons' Week 9 matchup against the Cowboys, expect JD Bertrand (concussion) or Nate Landman to see increased work with Atlanta's first-team defense.

For a second straight week, Elliss played every single defensive snap. The veteran linebacker has 20 tackles through two games, which is well ahead of his pace from last season -- his first with the Falcons. In 2023, Elliss recorded 122 tackles, including 4.0 sacks, across 17 appearances.

Falcons' Kaden Elliss: Team-high nine stops
Elliss posted nine tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 18-10 loss to the Steelers.
Picking up where he left off last season, Elliss was a tackle machine versus the Steelers. He played all 68 defensive snaps, while Troy Andersen and Nate Landman split time at the other ILB spot in Atlanta's new-look 3-4 defense. Given his role in Week 1, Elliss should be a premier IDP option moving forward. Elliss posted 122 tackles, including 4.0 sacks, and three pass defenses last year, his first with the Falcons.

Falcons' Kaden Elliss: Misses Wednesday's practice
Elliss was held out of Wednesday's practice due to a groin injury, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
The 29-year-old inside linebacker out of Idaho missed some time with a knee injury toward the end of July, and he's now expected to miss even more time due to a groin issue. Elliss was the Falcons' second-leading tackler in 2023, recording 122 total tackles across 17 regular-season appearances. Don't be surprised if Atlanta is cautious with Elliss' injury, as he's such an integral part of the team's defense.

Falcons' Kaden Elliss: Fully healthy for camp
Elliss (knee) is healthy for the start of Falcons training camp, Sports Illustrated's Daniel Flick reports.
Elliss was injured in the Week 18 finale last season, but it evidently wasn't a serious issue, as the veteran linebacker participated in OTAs and minicamp earlier this offseason. Elliss started all 17 regular-season games last year, amassing a career-high 122 tackles (82 solo), including 11 tackles for loss and four sacks. Elliss figures to be among the leading tacklers again in 2024 as long as he's healthy.

Falcons' Kaden Elliss: Career-high 122 tackles
Elliss (knee) finished 2023 with 122 tackles (82 solo), 4.0 sacks and three pass defenses in 17 appearances.
Elliss parlayed a breakout campaign in 2022 with New Orleans into a three-year deal with Atlanta last offseason, and he built off that success in 2023, recording a career-high 122 tackles. The 2019 seventh-round pick is not only a tackle machine (seven games with at least nine stops), but he's grown as a pass rusher, totaling 11.0 sacks over the last two seasons after just one over his first three NFL seasons. After missing just a handful of snaps through the first 16 games, Elliss suffered a knee injury in the season finale and didn't return. The extent of the issue remains unclear, but as long as he's healthy next season, Elliss should be a key piece of Atlanta's defense regardless of who's the next head coach.

Elliss hurt his knee in Sunday's game against New Orleans and is questionable to return, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Elliss was injured in the first half of the must-win game for Atlanta. If the linebacker is unable to return, it would be a big blow to the Falcons, as Elliss ranks second on the team with 119 tackles, including 4.0 sacks, on the campaign. For at least the time being, Andre Smith has entered the game in Elliss' stead.
