Hansen was waived by the Falcons on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Hansen was cut loose after signing a reserve/future contract with the team in January and spending the end of last season on the practice squad. The 27-year-old wideout previously had short stints on the Saints' and Lions' practice squads and last saw regular season action in 2020 with the Texans when he recorded 17 receptions for 236 yards and one touchdown over five games.

Falcons' Chad Hansen: Gets new deal
Hansen was signed to a reserve/future contract with the Falcons on Monday, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
Hansen signed with the Falcons' practice squad on Dec. 21 after a stint with the Saints. He was selected in the fourth round by the Jets in the 2017 draft and last saw regular-season action with the Texans in 2020, when he recorded 17 receptions on 24 targets for 236 yards and a touchdown.

Hansen has spent time with the Saints and Lions this season but has yet to appear in a game. Selected by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2017 draft, Hansen hasn't had a regular role since his rookie season. He most recently played five games with the Texans in 2020, compiling 17 catches on 24 targets for 236 yards and a touchdown. Hansen will now focus on making the Falcons' active roster before the 2021 season closes, or at least prove he deserves another chance in 2022.

Hansen has struggled to hold down a consistent role in the NFL, but New Orleans' lack of established wide receivers could offer Hansen a chance to make an impact if he's able to work his way up to the active roster. The 26-year-old wide receiver has 26 catches in 20 career NFL appearances, and this signing suggests Hansen's over the undisclosed injury he had previously been dealing with.

Hansen (undisclosed) was waived with an injury settlement Tuesday.
Hansen's injury remains undisclosed, but as long as he clears waivers, he should revert to the Lions injured reserve list for the 2021 season. The wide receiver has bounced around the league since joining in 2017, and Detroit is his seventh team of his career.

Lions' Chad Hansen: Lands with Lions
Hansen signed a contract with the Lions on Friday.
Hansen was taken by the Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft. He did not ultimately do much in New York, as he ended his rookie season with just nine receptions for 94 yards before failing to make the team the following year. He has since spent time with the Patriots, Titans, Broncos, Saints and Texans. One potential advantage to having landed in Detroit is the fact he played college ball with new Lions starting quarterback Jared Goff.

Hansen was released by the Texans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Hansen made his Texans debut in Week 13 of the 2020 season, marking his first NFL appearance since his 2017 rookie campaign. The California product erupted for five receptions and 101 yards, and he followed it up with back-to-back weeks of at least 55 receiving yards. However, he tapered off at the end of the year. The 26-year-old will now look for a new team.

Texans' Chad Hansen: Another quiet week
Hansen caught two of four targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 41-38 loss to the Titans.
Hansen, who recorded 14 catches for 212 yards during a three-game stretch from Week 13 to 15, has been quiet since. Over the last two weeks, Hansen caught just three balls for 24 yards. He has one year left on his contract, and his status among the wideouts depends on a few factors, the first being the individuals who are hired to become general manager and head coach. Beyond that, the Texans will have to decide whether or not to re-sign Will Fuller (suspended), who becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Texans' Chad Hansen: Limited offensive role
Hansen caught one of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's 37-31 loss to the Bengals.
Hansen, who was active for the fourth straight game after sitting on the practice squad the first 12 weeks, was of little significance Sunday despite playing 50 snaps (96 percent). Over his first three games, Hansen has caught 14 passes for 212 yards (15.1 YPC), including a 38-yard touchdown. He's played 90 percent of the offensive snaps over those four games and is expected have a significant snap count Week 17 against the Titans.

Texans' Chad Hansen: Hauls in long touchdown
Hansen recorded two receptions on three targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Colts.
Hansen predictably saw his target volume fall with the return of Brandin Cooks. However, he still managed to record a 38-yard touchdown on a broken coverage play just before halftime. While Hansen's volume will be unreliable to close the season, he should continue to have a chance to produce with Will Fuller suspended. He'll draw a Week 16 matchup against the Bengals.

Texans' Chad Hansen: Officially signed to active roster
Hansen was signed to the active roster Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Hansen has tallied 12 receptions and 157 yards over the last two games with the top three options Will Fuller (suspension), Randall Cobb (toe) and Brandin Cooks (neck/foot) all missing time during that stretch. Even with Cooks now back in the fold, Hansen still figures to be a quality option with the Texans leaning more into their passing game in recent weeks.

Chad Hansen: Likely to rejoin Houston's roster
Texans interim head coach Romeo Crennel said Friday that Hansen has a "good chance" to be signed to the team's 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Hansen has impressed as one of Deshaun Watson's top targets over the last two weeks, taking full advantage of Houston's depleted receiving corps. The Texans last faced the Colts in Week 13, when Hansen had five catches for 101 yards, so there's reason to believe he could find success if promoted once again. Whether or not Brandin Cooks (neck) is available this weekend should go a long way in determining just how extensively Hansen might be involved in the passing attack.

Hansen reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Hansen has been producing for the depleted Texans receiving corps over the past two weeks, compiling 12 catches for 157 yards in his first two appearances of 2020 against the Colts and Bears. The Cal product was afforded a clearer path to passing-game usage as Brandin Cooks (foot/neck) was ruled out for Week 14. Meanwhile, with Randall Cobb (toe) on injured reserve, Will Fuller serving a suspension and Kenny Stills no longer with the team, there remains a possibility Hansen is promoted again for a Week 15 rematch against Indianapolis.

Texans' Chad Hansen: Leads pass catchers in loss
Hansen brought in all seven targets for 56 yards in the Texans' 36-7 loss to the Bears on Sunday.
The 25-year-old didn't quite follow up his surprising 101-yard Week 13 effort in spectacular fashion yardage-wise, but Hansen's catch tally actually served as a team high on the afternoon. For that matter, so did his reception and target totals, as the absence of Brandin Cooks (foot/neck) only opened up more opportunities for the second-year pro. With Will Fuller (suspension) already out of the equation for the remainder of the season and Cooks potentially facing some lingering injuries, Hansen could continue to serve as a primary target in a Week 15 road divisional matchup against the Colts.
