The Steelers placed Scharping (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Scharping's season is over after he suffered a torn ACL during practice Wednesday. With Scharping sidelined, Spencer Anderson is currently the only backup guard on Pittsburgh's active roster.

The veteran offensive lineman had yet to play in a game this season, but his loss is a blow to Pittsburgh's depth on the offensive line.

Steelers' Max Scharping: Suffers knee injury
Scharping suffered a knee injury during the Steelers' practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Scharping was considered a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, per the Steelers' official website, but the fear is that his injury is significant. The offensive lineman will undergo an MRI to confirm the severity of the injury according to Rapaport.

Steelers' Max Scharping: Headed to Steel City
Pittsburgh signed Scharping off Washington's practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Scharping's addition to the 53-man roster gives the Steelers some much needed depth on the offensive line after guard James Daniels was placed on injured reserve due to a season-ending Achilles tear he sustained in Week 4 against the Colts. Scharping has appeared in 48 games (33 starts) since being selected by the Texans in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, though he hasn't started in a game since 2021.
