  • Browns' Geoff Swaim: Out for Week 12 with concussion

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Swaim has entered concussion protocol and won't play Thursday against the Steelers, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.

Swaim presumably suffered the concussion at some point during the Browns' 35-14 loss to the Saints on Sunday, when he went without a target across nine snaps on offense in addition to playing 13 snaps on special teams. With the Browns facing a quick turnaround for their Week 12 game, it's no surprise that Swaim is already being ruled out from clearing the five-step protocol in time to suit up versus Pittsburgh.

  • Browns' Geoff Swaim: Sees first target in win

Swaim caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 29-24 win over Baltimore in Week 8.

The target was Swaim's first in six games with the Browns. The 31-year-old has worked his way from the practice squad onto the active roster and out-snapped Jordan Akins for a fourth consecutive game. Neither backup can expect much of a workload while David Njoku is healthy.

  • Browns' Geoff Swaim: Signed to active roster

The Browns signed Swaim to the active roster from the practice squad Wednesday.

Swaim had been elevated for Cleveland's past three contests, so the Browns had to sign the veteran tight end to the 53-man roster in order for him to be available for Sunday's road matchup against the Eagles. In those three games Swaim has played 10, 24 and 20 offensive snaps, respectively, but he's yet to earn his first target of the season.

  • Geoff Swaim: Back to practice squad

Swaim reverted to the Browns' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Swaim played 21 offensive snaps in Week 5 against Washington, failing to garner a target in the team's 34-13 loss. The tight end will need to be signed to the active roster in order to appear in another game with Cleveland this season.

  • Browns' Geoff Swaim: Elevated for third time

The Browns elevated Swaim from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

Swaim will be elevated for a third straight week to provide depth at tight end in case David Njoku (ankle) is unable to play Sunday against the Commanders. This is the last time Cleveland can call Swaim up from the practice squad, and even if he's inactive for Sunday's contest, he would need to be signed to the active roster in order to suit up for the Browns moving forward.

  • Geoff Swaim: Reverts to practice squad

Swaim reverted to Cleveland's practice squad Monday.

Swaim saw playing time on both offense and special teams during Sunday's loss to the Raiders but failed to record any stats. He could be elevated again in Week 5 versus the Commanders if David Njoku remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

Swain is joining the Browns' active roster for the second consecutive game after playing 18 total snaps (10 offensive and eight on special teams) during Cleveland's Week 3 loss to the Giants. • Browns' Geoff Swaim: Elevated from practice squad

The Browns elevated Swaim from their practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.

Swaim wasn't able to catch on with a team during the offseason or training camp while recovering from a calf injury he sustained last December. He signed with the Browns' practice squad Sept. 10, and he'll be elevated for Week 3 against the Giants due to David Njoku (ankle) being ruled out. If active, Swaim will serve as the Browns' No. 3 tight end Sunday behind Jordan Akins and Blake Whiteheart.

  • Geoff Swaim: Joins Cleveland's practice squad

The Browns are slated to sign Swaim to the practice squad Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Swaim will act as an experienced reserve option for Cleveland's tight end corps, with starter David Njoku (ankle) currently considered week-to-week. He looks back to full health after having ended the 2023 season on Arizona's injured reserve list due to a calf issue.

  • Geoff Swaim: Works out for Cleveland

The Browns hosted Swaim (calf) for a tryout on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Swaim looks healthy after a 2023 campaign in which he suited up for 14 games with the Cardinals, but was placed on IR due to a calf issue late in the year. The 10-year veteran could help fill in as a depth player for the Browns in the wake of tight end David Njoku (ankle) being labeled week-to-week.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Lands on IR

The Cardinals placed Swaim (calf) on injured reserve Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Swaim suffered a calf injury in the first half of Sunday's 45-29 loss to San Francisco and wasn't able to return. With Arizona out of playoff contention, the tight end's placement on IR means his season is over. Swaim finishes the campaign with 10 catches on 11 targets for 94 yards and no touchdowns.
