  • Eagles' Rick Lovato: Re-ups with Eagles

Lovato signed a one-year contract with the Eagles on Friday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The long snapper joined the Eagles in 2016 after starter Jon Dernbos suffered a broken wrist. However, Lovato wound up winning the job outright, which eventually led to Dernbos being traded to begin the 2017 season. The one-year contract is expected to be near the veteran minimum.

  • Eagles' Rick Lovato: Wins long-snapping role

The Eagles traded veteran long snapper Jon Dorenbos to the Saints Monday, as Lovato has won the role for the upcoming season, Bob Ford of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Lovato has big shoes to fill, as he takes over for the Eagles' longest-tenured player. An injury to the veteran long snapper in the latter portion of the 2016 season opened up the opportunity for Lovato, an undrafted free agent in 2015. The Old Dominion product was working for his father's sub shop when he got the call to work out for the Eagles. He will now look to make his fourth NFL stop stick.
