49ers' T.Y. McGill: Returning to SF
McGill re-signed with the 49ers on a one-year contract Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
McGill will return to a depth role in San Francisco after posting eight tackles in nine appearances last season. The 30-year-old defensive tackle has also suited up for the Colts, Browns, Eagles, Chargers and Vikings in his career.

T.Y. McGill: Signed to practice squad
McGill (ankle) signed with San Francisco's practice squad Tuesday.
McGill was released from the Vikings earlier in the 2022 season after landing on IR. Now that his ankle is healed, he will join the Niners' practice squad and look to make his season debut. During his 2021 season, McGill appeared in two games with Minnesota, during which he recorded one tackle and one pass breakup.

McGill (ankle) was placed on the Vikings' injured reserve Monday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.
Earlier Monday, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Minnesota planned to release McGill after he suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's preseason finale, but he officially landed on IR due to the issue. The defensive lineman will now be forced to sit out the entirety of the 2022 campaign, unless he can reach an injury settlement.

McGill sprained his right ankle during the team's preseason finale against the Broncos and is expected to be sidelined for one or two weeks.
