McCoy opened the week with consecutive limited practices, but the 2019 second-round pick finished strong with a full practice Friday. Even with the questionable tag, Rod Walker of The New Orleans Advocate relays that McCoy should be activated off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game. If that's the case, McCoy would likely start as center as Lucas Patrick has been ruled out for a second straight game due to an ankle injury.

Lucas Patrick has missed both practices this week due to a calf injury, though Shane Lemieux (knee) is closer to returning from injured reserve than McCoy. If neither McCoy, Patrick nor Lemieux is able to play Sunday, Connor McGovern would figure to be the starting center.

McCoy's move to IR was imminent, as the 27-year-old sustained a groin injury during the Saints' Week 3 loss to the Eagles that requires surgery and is expected to sideline him for the next 6-to-8 weeks. Lucas Patrick will likely assume the Saints' first-team center duties while McCoy recovers from surgery.

McCoy (groin) suffered an injury during Sunday's loss to the Eagles that is expected to require surgery and sideline him 6-to-8 weeks, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
McCoy's estimated recovery timetable likely will result in him being placed on IR, leaving Lucas Patrick to operate as the Saints' starting center until early November, at least. Until McCoy returns to full health, the Pro Bowler's absence will represent a notable blow to the strength of New Orleans' offensive line.
