Raiders' Maxx Crosby: Officially goes to IR
Las Vegas placed Crosby (ankle) on its injured reserve list Wednesday.
This was a foregone conclusion, as Crosby underwent a tightrope procedure Tuesday to address an ankle injury he aggravated in Week 14. He's expected to be ready for the start of the 2025 season, but for the rest of this year, 2023 first-rounder Tyree Wilson figures to step in as the starter on the edge across from K'Lavon Chaisson.

Raiders' Maxx Crosby: Undergoing tightrope surgery
Crosby (ankle) is scheduled to undergo a tightrope procedure Tuesday to address the Grade 3 sprain he had aggravated Week 14, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Crosby initially injured his ankle back in Week 2, but the issue worsened in Week 14 to the point of him requiring season-ending surgery. Reed reports that Crosby's recovery timetable could play out in a number of ways, but that the standout pass rusher is expected to be fully healthy to begin the 2025 campaign. Crosby's 2024 season thus concludes with 12 appearances, in which he racked up 45 tackles (28 solo), 7.5 sacks and five passes defensed.

Raiders' Maxx Crosby: Likely needs season-ending surgery
Crosby, who has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Falcons, revealed in an Instagram post Saturday that he expects to undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his injured ankle.
In his post, Crosby relayed that he first suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 2 win over the Ravens, but he played the following week in a loss to Carolina before aggravating the injury and sitting out a Week 4 win over the Browns. He proceeded to play in each of the next nine games, but after the same ankle got rolled up on again in this past Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers, Crosby has scheduled a meeting in Charlotte on Monday with Dr. Robert Anderson, who is expected to arthroscopic surgery on the ankle. Adam Schefter of ESPN notes that the scope will determine whether Crosby needs a second surgery, which will depend on how much damage is detected. In any case, the expectation is that Crosby will be ready to go for the start of the 2025 season. He'll conclude his 2024 campaign with 45 tackles (28 solo), 7.5 sacks and five passes defensed over 12 games.

Crosby (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday.
The two-time All-Pro defensive end dealt with an ankle issue earlier in the year that forced him to miss a game, in Week 4, for the first time in his career. It's unclear if this is the same issue. The Raiders have two more practice sessions for Crosby to get back on the field ahead of Monday's matchup with the Falcons.
