John Parker Romo: Signs with Pats' practice squad
New England signed Romo to its practice squad Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Regular starter Joey Slye has missed three field goals in the Patriots' last two games, so it makes some sense they're exploring their options at kicker. With that said, it's still not fully clear whether Romo is meant to replace Slye right away or if the signing is more a contingency plan.

John Parker Romo: Let go by Minnesota
The Vikings waived Romo on Saturday.
Romo served as the Vikings' primary placekicker for the last four games due to Will Reichard being on IR with a right quadriceps injury. Romo did a serviceable job over that span, going 11-for-12 on field-goal attempts and 7-for-8 on extra-point tries. Romo shouldn't have much trouble catching on with another team this season that is in need of a kicker.

Vikings' John Parker Romo: Converts three field goals in win
Romo went 3-for-4 on field-goal tries while making both of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 23-22 win over the Cardinals.
Romo converted from 44 yards, 55 yards and 31 yards in the victory, with his lone miss coming in the third quarter on a 43-yard try. The kicker has now made 11 out of 12 field-goal attempts since taking over as the team's kicker in Week 10 against the Jaguars. With Will Reichard (quadricep) eligible to return from injured reserve in Week 14, it's unclear if Romo will remain on the active roster for at least one more game.

Vikings' John Parker Romo: Makes game winner Sunday
Romo made all of his three field-goal tries and converted all three of his extra-point attempts during Sunday's 30-27 overtime win at Chicago.
Though it was from just 29 yards out, shorter than an extra point, Romo's overtime field goal made him the hero of the day for the Vikings. He hasn't missed any field goals during his first three NFL games and will look to keep up the momentum in Week 13 versus the Cardinals.

Vikings' John Parker Romo: One field goal in win
Romo made his only field-goal attempt while going 2-for-3 on PATs in Sunday's 23-13 win over the Titans.
Romo made a 40-yard field goal in the second quarter, his only attempt of the day. He has now made all five of his field-goal tries over two weeks as the starting kicker in Minnesota with Will Reichard (quadricep) on injured reserve.

Vikings' John Parker Romo: Goes perfect in debut
Romo made all four of his field-goal attempts during the Vikings' 12-7 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
Romo had a productive outing in his regular-season debut as he scored all 12 of Minnesota's points. His longest kick was a 45-yard field goal, and he will likely serve as the team's starting kicker for another three games as Will Reichard (quadricep) remains on injured reserve.

Vikings' John Parker Romo: Filling in for injured Reichard
The Vikings will sign Romo to the 53-man roster Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
A third-year pro out of Virginia Tech, Romo will get the chance to make his NFL regular-season debut beginning with this Sunday's game against the Jaguars as a replacement at kicker for Will Reichard (quadricep). Romo had previously been with the Vikings during the offseason, but he was cut in late July once Minnesota had firmly committed to Reichard as its kicker. Though he has yet to appear at the NFL level, Romo kicked professionally in the XFL for the San Antonio Brahmas back in 2023, when he converted 17 of 19 field-goal attempts, including a long of 57 yards.

John Parker Romo: Dropped by Minnesota
The Vikings waived Romo on Monday.
It was an uphill battle for Romo to make Minnesota's 53-man roster, as he was competing with Will Reichard, the NCAA's all-time leader in points, for the team's placekicker duties. Romo has yet to kick in an NFL game, and he'll now look elsewhere for the opportunity to do so.

John Parker Romo: Waived by Detroit
The Lions waived Romo on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Romo signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent last year but was let go ahead of roster cutdowns. He impressed during a stint with the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas and earned a chance with Detroit this summer but ultimately lost the competition to Riley Patterson. Romo may be a practice-squad candidate if he clears waivers.

Lions' John Parker Romo: Signs with Detroit
Romo agreed to a contract with the Lions on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Romo signed with the Saints last year as an undrafted free agent, but he was let go ahead of the 2022 campaign. The Virginia Tech product impressed enough during a recent stint with the XFL's San Antonio Brahmas to earn an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Lions' Week 1 roster. He'll face an uphill battle to unseat Michael Badgley as Detroit's top placekicker.
