Cowboys' Josh Ball: Placed on IR
The Cowboys placed Ball (hip) on injured reserve Tuesday, Nick Harris of the Cowboy's official site reports.
Ball was expected to be sidelined for at least two months after an MRI revealed a soft tissue injury in his hip/groin area. However, the 2021 fourth-round pick will now be forced to miss the entire 2023 campaign, barring an injury settlement.

Cowboys' Josh Ball: Sidelined for two months
Ball, who left Saturday's 31-16 preseason win over the Raiders, is set to miss two months after an MRI revealed a soft tissue injury in the hip/groin area, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Ball left during the opening drive of Saturday's game after the injury prevented him from anchoring in pass protection. Ball has been competing for a depth spot on the Cowboys' offensive line and this injury is a big setback for him.

Cowboys' Josh Ball: Suffers apparent hip injury
Ball (hip) is questionable to return to Saturday's preseason game against Las Vegas, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
The 2021 fourth-round pick is battling for a spot on the Cowboys' active roster ahead of the coming season, and this injury does not help his case. Ball missed his entire rookie year with an ankle injury and appeared in 13 games (zero starts) last season for Dallas. The severity of the 25-year-old's injury is unknown for the time being.

Cowboys' Josh Ball: Will get work at guard this summer
Head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Ball will work more at guard this offseason after beginning his NFL career at tackle, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Ball missed his entire rookie season in 2021 due to an ankle injury, but he was healthy during the 2022 campaign and operated as a swing tackle. However, with Dallas losing offensive guard depth this offseason, Ball will move to a new position and get a chance to compete for a starting role in the fall.

Cowboys' Josh Ball: Past injury woes
Ball has been participating in practice of late, David Helman of the team's official site reports.
Ball missed the entirety of his rookie season with the Cowboys after being placed on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury in early September of 2021. Though the fourth-round pick was designated to return to practice in December, he never managed to make his NFL debut. Now that he's past his ankle issue, he'll look to establish himself as a potential swing tackle heading into the 2022 regular season.
