The 49ers released Jones on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports.
Jones was a healthy scratch for Monday's 23-17 win over the Commanders, and he was limited to a rotational role on the defensive line in each of the three prior games. The 49ers signed Jones to the active roster Wednesday from the Vikings' practice squad.
Jones dealt with an undisclosed injury through the end of training camp and into his tenure with the Vikings' practice squad. The defensive tackle is evidently healthy and set to suit up for the 49ers in Sunday's contest against the Cardinals. Defensive tackle CJ West (undisclosed) was moved to IR in a corresponding move.

Texans' Naquan Jones: Dealing with unspecified injury
Jones sustained an undisclosed injury during Houston's 16-13 preseason loss to Carolina on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Jones may have picked up the injury during his tackle on Anthony Tyus late in the second quarter. The severity and nature of Jones' injury is unclear, but the Texans should get a better sense of his recovery timeline once he undergoes further tests. The Michigan State product is battling for a depth spot on the Texans' 53-man roster for the regular season.

Texans' Naquan Jones: Re-ups with Houston
The Texans re-signed Jones to a one-year, $2 million contract Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Jones can earn an additional $500K via incentives. Houston claimed the 28-year-old defensive lineman off waivers from the Chargers back in December, and Jones appeared in the final four regular-season games in addition to both of the Texans' playoff contests. Jones figures to fill a rotational role along the defensive line.

Jones was claimed off waivers by the Texans on Tuesday.
Jones was let go by the Chargers on Monday, and he has now almost instantly found a new suitor in Houston. The defensive lineman has compiled 10 total tackles (six solo) and a pass defensed over eight contests this season with Los Angeles, and he'll provide the Texans with an additional depth option behind Mario Edwards and Sheldon Rankins moving forward.

The Chargers jettisoned both Jones and running back Jaret Patterson on Monday to make room on the 53-man roster after Omario Hamption (ankle) and Hassan Haskins (hamstring) were both activated from injured reserve. Jones was a healthy scratch in Weeks 11 and 13, and in eight regular-season games for the Chargers he accumulated 10 tackles (six solo) and one pass defense. Assuming he clears waivers, Jones could opt to stay in Los Angeles as a member of the practice squad or look to join a team in need of depth on the defensive line.
