The Saints signed Long to a contract Wednesday.
Long tried out with the Saints on Tuesday as they searched for additional cornerback depth. The 28-year-old should suit up for Friday's preseason finale against the Cowboys alongside fellow newly signed cornerback Michael Davis. Long will likely be a temporary addition to the Saints, as starting cornerback Quincy Riley (groin) works to get healthy.

The Saints hosted Long for a tryout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Long was waived with an injury settlement from the Giants on Aug. 13. The cornerback seemingly is healthy after an undisclosed injury and is all set to try to make another 53-man roster. The Saints appear to be looking at additional preseason cornerback depth, trying out Michael Davis on Tuesday as well.

Long was set to miss the entirety of the 2026 season while on injured reserve with the Giants after suffering an undisclosed injury during training camp. He will now have the chance to pass a physical and play elsewhere this year.

The Colts re-signed Long on Monday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Long will remain in Indianapolis after splitting time between the team's practice squad and active roster in 2024. He appeared in 13 games but recorded no stats, playing almost exclusively on special teams (106 of 113 total snaps on special teams). The 27-year-old from Michigan is expected to compete for a depth spot in the Colts secondary while also contributing on special teams throughout the offseason program.
