Texans' David Montgomery: Officially ruled out
Montgomery (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Montgomery still hasn't returned to practice and will miss a second straight game, leaving Woody Marks to handle a large workload against the Giants. Jawhar Jordan (quad) was effective off the bench last week, but he's now on the practice-squad injured list, which leaves Dare Ogunbowale as the No. 2 RB. Ogunbowale's history as a special teamer and passing-down specialist suggest Marks should dominate carries.

Montgomery (groin) will not play Sunday against the Giants, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Montgomery will miss a second straight game, and with Jawhar Jordan (quadriceps) injured on the practice squad after he was elevated for Week 6, the Texans will ride Woody Marks and special-teamer Dare Ogunbowale out of the backfield, with Marks likely to see virtually every meaningful carry versus New York.

Wilson adds that Montgomery is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Giants, though that may just be conjecture from Wilson at this point. In any event, Montgomery's chances of suiting up look slim at best, as he has yet to practice since exiting during Houston's Week 5 win over the Titans. The Texans ruled Montgomery (groin) out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London.
After making an early exit from the Texans' Week 5 win over the Titans due to the groin injury, Montgomery was unable to practice in any capacity Wednesday or Thursday. He'll stay behind in Houston while the Texans make the trip overseas and will set his sights on a return to action Week 7 against the Giants. With Montgomery set to miss his first game of the season, Woody Marks should be in store for a sizable workload once again after handling 19 touches and playing 56 of 66 offensive snaps in Week 5.

Montgomery made an early exit from the Texans' Week 5 win at Tennessee due to a groin injury, which head coach DeMeco Ryans since has called a "week-to-week" concern for the running back, per Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle. As a result, Montgomery's lack of activity Wednesday isn't a surprise, and Houston ultimately could make a ruling on his availability for Sunday's game in Jacksonville when it posts its final practice report of the week Friday. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that Montgomery (groin) is considered week-to-week, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Montgomery exited Sunday's 26-3 win over the Titans midway through the second quarter due to the groin injury and was unable to return. Based on Ryans' comments a day later, Montgomery looks to be trending toward missing his first game of the season Week 6, when the Texans travel to London to face the Jaguars on Sunday. Montgomery's expected absence in Week 6 should clear the way for Woody Marks to take on a lead role out of the Houston backfield, with Dare Ogunbowale and practice-squad members Jawhar Jordan and Deuce Vaughn representing candidates to handle depth roles. Since scoring three touchdowns on 23 touches in a Week 1 loss to the Bills, Montgomery has failed to find the end zone while being limited to 78 yards on 32 carries (2.4 average) and four catches for 48 yards over the Texans' subsequent four contests.
