Panthers' Mitchell Evans: Solid rookie campaign in Carolina
Evans caught 19 of 25 targets for 171 yards and two touchdowns and rushed once for one yard across 17 regular-season games in 2025.
Despite opening the season as the Panthers' No. 3 tight end, Evans started 10 games and played 391 offensive snaps during his rookie campaign, largely due to Carolina's frequent use of two- and three-tight-end sets. The 2025 fifth-round pick from Notre Dame was used primarily as a blocker but also held his own as a receiver, averaging 9.0 yards per reception. With Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle, IR) out for Carolina's 2025 playoff run, Evans is set to operate as the team's top backup behind Tommy Tremble. Even with Tremble and Sanders under contract for 2026 season, Evans will likely be more involved in the Panthers' offensive game plan.

Panthers' Mitchell Evans: One catch vs. Seattle
Evans caught one of two targets for five yards and rushed once for one yard during Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Seahawks.
Evans led the Panthers' tight end room in targets for the second consecutive game during Sunday's loss, but it didn't translate to production. The rookie from Notre Dame has now caught 18 of 23 targets for 166 yards and two touchdowns while appearing in all 16 of Carolina's games this season. He could be in line for more receiving work in the Week 18 matchup against the Buccaneers, as Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) is sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Evans caught all three of his targets for 23 yards during Sunday's 23-20 win over the Buccaneers.
The rookie from Notre Dame paced the Panthers' tight-end corps in receptions, targets and yards during Sunday's divisional win. He's been an important part of Carolina's offense as both a blocker and receiver this season, appearing in all 15 games and catching 17 of 21 targets for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Evans failed to catch his lone target in Monday night's 20-9 loss to the 49ers.
The rookie from Notre Dame operated as Carolina's third-string tight end in the Week 12 loss. He's now accumulated 11 receptions on 15 targets for 118 yards and two touchdowns through the team's first 12 games. Expect Evans to remain a minimal portion of Carolina's offensive game plan in the Week 13 matchup against the Rams.

Evans caught both of his targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 30-27 overtime win over the Falcons.
Prior to the Week 11 win, Evans hadn't recorded a catch since the Week 7 win over the Jets, drawing just one target during that stretch. He logged 29 offensive snaps during Sunday's win but still operated as the Panthers' No. 3 tight end, playing behind Tommy Tremble (42 snaps) and Ja'Tavion Sanders (37 snaps). Evans is likely to remain in a limited offensive role for the Week 12 matchup against the 49ers.

Panthers' Mitchell Evans: Returns to game
Evans (ankle) has returned to Sunday's game against the Saints, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The tight end injured his ankle earlier in the first half, walked off under his own power and briefly went to the locker room. The injury must not have been serious, as it didn't take long for Evans to return to the contest.

Panthers' Mitchell Evans: Questionable to return Sunday
Evans has an ankle injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Saints, Kassidy Hill of the Panthers' official site reports.
The tight end was able to walk off the field but had to go "straight to the locker room," per Hill. Evans had one target and no catches before leaving the field. He has nine grabs for 90 yards and two scores on the year.

Evans went without a target while playing 16 of the Panthers' 61 snaps on offense in Sunday's 40-9 loss to the Bills.
After recording at least 20 receiving yards in three of Carolina's previous four games, Evans didn't earn a look in the passing game Sunday for the first time since Week 1. Panthers' Mitchell Evans: Nabs 21-yard reception
Evans played 39 of the Panthers' 67 snaps on offense and hauled in a 21-yard reception on his lone target in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Cowboys.
For the third game in a row, the rookie fifth-round pick out of Notre Dame served as Carolina's No. 2 tight end behind Tommy Tremble while usual starter Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) was sidelined once again. Evans had come through with touchdowns in the previous two contests, and though he didn't find paydirt Sunday, his 21-yard catch was the Panthers' third-longest play of the day and helped set up a field goal in the first quarter. Despite making a bit of splash in his backup role the past three games, Evans is still likely to see his playing time take a hit if Sanders is back in action Week 7 against the Jets.

Panthers' Mitchell Evans: Catches first TD in Week 4
Evans caught three of four targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-13 loss to the Patriots.
With Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) inactive in Sunday's loss, Evans logged a career-high 35 offensive snaps and made the most of his increased opportunities. Three of his four targets came in the first half while the game was still competitive, and he later hauled in a two-yard touchdown from Andy Dalton in the fourth quarter to give Carolina its second score of the day. The rookie out of Notre Dame has now logged five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown through his first four NFL games. He's likely to remain the Panthers' top reserve tight end until Sanders returns from injury, working behind Tommy Tremble.
