  • Colts' Seth Henigan: Earns deal with Colts

The Colts signed Henigan to a reserve/future contract Monday.

Henigan was added to the Colts' practice squad in late December and served as Riley Leonard's backup quarterback in Week 18 after being dropped by the Jaguars early in the 2025 season. The 22-year-old rookie is expected to compete for a reserve quarterback role throughout the offseason.

  • Colts' Seth Henigan: Elevated from practice squad

The Colts elevated Henigan from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Henigan joined the Colts' practice squad Monday, and head coach Shane Steichen relayed to reporters Friday that Henigan would serve as Riley Leonard's backup for Week 18 against the Texans, per James Boyd of The Athletic. It remains to be seen whether 44-year-old Philip Rivers will be active Sunday or serve as the team's inactive emergency third quarterback, the latter of which would prohibit him from playing unless both Leonard and Henigan were to leave the game due to injury, illness or ejection. Henigan signed with the Jaguars in May as an undrafted free agent before being cut at the end of training camp in late August. He played four collegiate seasons with Memphis, and in 2024 he completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 3,502 yads, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions while turning 80 carries into 190 yards and a score across 13 games.

Henigan inked with Indianapolis' practice squad Monday, and he'll now get a chance to make his NFL debut in the Colts' season finale. Steichen says it hasn't yet been determined whether veteran Philip Rivers will be active as the team's No. 3 quarterback Sunday. An undrafted rookie, Henigan threw for 3,502 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions in his final season at Memphis in 2024.

Jacksonville waived Henigan on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

After four collegiate seasons with Memphis, Henigan signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in April. He got a good look during the preseason slate, completing 27 of 38 passes (71.1 percent) for 178 yards, though he threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns. Pelissero states that Henigan will likely join the Jaguars' practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Seth Henigan: In line to sign with Jags

Henigan is slated to sign with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent, Raven Moore of WREG Memphis reports.

Henigan started four seasons at Memphis and set records with both 14,266 passing yards and 104 passing touchdowns. The 22-year-old signal-caller is a solid athlete who plays with poise when facing pressure. While he typically makes the right decision, his arm strength is merely average. Henigan will compete with Nick Mullens and John Wolford to be Trevor Lawrence's backup in 2025.
