Jets' Adonai Mitchell: Meshing well with new QB
Mitchell has showcased impressive chemistry with new starting quarterback Geno Smith at OTAs, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Mitchell was, specifically, Smith's most-targeted pass catcher during Tuesday's practice, in which the Jets ran drills to simulate high-pressure situations such as third-and-long. Rosenblatt also notes that Mitchell and Smith connected frequently during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills in May. New York acquired Mitchell via trade with the Colts last November, and across eight games with the team he secured 25 of 59 targets for 312 yards and two scores, including an 8-102-1 performance against the Falcons in Week 13. With the Jets' offense seemingly in position to take a step forward with Smith under center in 2026, Mitchell will have an opportunity to capitalize on a starting role alongside Garrett Wilson and rookie first-round pick Omar Cooper.

Jets' Adonai Mitchell: Sees 58 targets in eight Jets games
Mitchell caught 33 of 74 targets for 453 yards and two touchdowns while rushing once for minus-4 yards in 16 games split between the Colts and Jets.
Mitchell played eight games with each team in 2025 but saw a major uptick in usage after being traded to the Jets, catching 24 of 58 targets for 301 yards and his first two NFL touchdowns with New York. His abhorrent 43.4 percent catch rate (56 catches on 129 targets) through two NFL seasons is a red flag, but subpar quarterback play has certainly contributed to that ugly statistic, though Mitchell has played his part with drops and mental mistakes. The 2024 second-round pick's ability to get open is intriguing, and there's a path to fantasy relevance in 2026 if the Jets improve their QB situation, as Mitchell's favored to hold onto a starting role on the outside, barring the addition of a starting caliber wideout in free agency or the draft.

Jets' Adonai Mitchell: Catches three of nine targets
Mitchell caught three of nine targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the Patriots.
Mitchell has 55 targets in seven games with the Jets but has caught only 24 of them. He has 320 receiving yards and two touchdowns since coming over from the Colts in a midseason trade. Brady Cook has a 1:7 TD:INT in four games (three starts) since taking over as the Jets' starting quarterback, so Mitchell could be held back by poor quarterback play again in Week 18 against the Bills.

Jets' Adonai Mitchell: Three catches in Week 16 defeat
Mitchell caught three of six targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 29-6 loss to the Saints.
Mitchell finished second on the team in receiving yards behind backup running back Isaiah Davis' 52. This was the sixth time in as many games with the Jets that Mitchell has drawn at least six targets. Whether the Jets start undrafted rookie Brady Cook at quarterback for a third consecutive game or turn back to one of Tyrod Taylor or Justin Fields (knee), Mitchell should continue to function as the team's top downfield target in Week 17 against the Patriots.

Jets' Adonai Mitchell: Six catches, TD on nine targets
Mitchell caught six of nine targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 48-20 loss to the Jaguars. He also rushed once for minus-4 yards.
Mitchell got the Jets on the board with a nine-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. The twitchy wide receiver has been targeted 40 times in five appearances for the Jets. Mitchell has been inconsistent while dealing with subpar quarterback play, but his mix of athleticism and target share will give the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft some enticing upside in Week 16 against the Saints, no matter whom the Jets tab as their starting quarterback.
