The Lions waived Rucker (ankle) with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Rucker will once again be subject to waivers before becoming a free agent. If the cornerback goes unclaimed, he will likely focus on returning to football condition before attempting to sign with another franchise.

Lions' De'Shawn Rucker: Reverts to IR
Rucker (ankle) reverted to injured reserve Saturday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Rucker hurt his ankle during practice Thursday and was waived/injured Friday. He cleared waivers and has thus been placed on IR. Rucker will consequently miss the entire 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Detroit.

De'Shawn Rucker: Cut loose with injury designation
The Lions waived/injured Rucker (ankle) on Friday.
Rucker sustained the injury during Thursday's training camp practice. He'll revert to the Lions' injured reserve if he clears waivers, at which point he would be forced to miss the entire 2026 season unless an injury settlement is reached with Detroit.

Lions' De'Shawn Rucker: Nursing ankle issue
Rucker left the Lions' training camp practice with an ankle injury Thursday, Richard Silva of The Detroit News reports.
It's not clear yet how serious Rucker's injury is or when he'll be able to return to the practice field. In the meantime, Khalil Dorsey and fellow rookie undrafted free agent Aamaris Brown could get more chances to make an impression during camp.
